yeah I've already drafted a letter. Just waiting for the call charges to show up before I send it off. Any idea where I should write to? The Tesco Direct web site has a generic customer services email address, but should i write to someone higher up the chain?

We took delivery of a brand new 3 piece suite yesterday after a wait of 9 weeks (which we were aware of) and I am not happy with the sofa at all.
It looks fine but when I sit on it I don't feel as if there is enough support given to me to the point that after sitting in it for some time (well I say sitting, more like shifting from side to side to try and get comfortable) I actually got a backache and was unable to sit in it anymore.
The chairs are okay and the seating is a lot firmer in them so more comfortable.
I will be calling them later on today to see what can be done as I am really unsatisfied with it and can't remember it being that low when I sat on the model in the shop. Which by the way they have now discontinued so I can't go and compare it.
Any help on my rights would be appreciated.

If the sofa doesn't feel the same as the chairs then it appears to be a fault. Tell the store you are rejecting the suite as the sofa is not as ordered and does not match the chairs.

Thanks for that Ant and I have just been on the phone to the store who are now arranging for somebody to come and look at it.
I mentioned that the two cushions on the sofa did not meet (one was about 1/2 an inch in front of the other) plus the stitching was crooked and she said they may arranged to have it mended!!! To which I replied I was not prepared to pay out almost £2000 for a suite to have repaired when it was brand new!!! blooming cheek.
Anyway, will now see what they say when they arrange to come on Monday and view it and take it from there.

Whilst your rights as a consumer are always with the trader you made your purchase from, companies selling computers and software might not agree. Bought a computer online or on the (mythical) High Street? Bought some software for it? I've been amazed at how as soon as there's a problem, the cry from some companies you'd've thought pretty reputable goes up, "Not our problem, you need to contact the manufacturer." Try contacting Microsoft, whose phone systems will either eat your cash in ways you'd never imagined, or they'll stick you in a queue and dump you after a set time, back on the circuit with you.And when I bought a laptop from LaptopsDirect and needed to ask a tech query which would inform my decision to return i as faulty or not, they just said "Contact Acer." A friend had a similar problem with the well-known high street chain that's currently in difficulties. "Sorry mate," he was told, "we just sell 'em. If you want your money back, speak to the manufacturer." Be persistent and try not to get fazed by their corporate speak and intentional bluffing. The three words Small Claims Court often help a cheeky shopkeeper to reconsider.0

Yes, under Sale of Goods Act, (SoGA), a guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights,(SoGA), and cannot take them away.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Thanks for that derrick,i knew i was right because when i worked as a tv engineer i had to repair a expensive Sony tv,that was 8 months out of guarantee,although it took a call from trading standards to put my boss right,i wasn't sure if law Had changed,colin0

Hi
We bought some tickets for a festival from an internet distributor about 4 months before the festival. We moved from our block of flats before the tickets were due to be delivered, so we phoned and tried to change the address. The ticket company said the tickets had already been printed and so they couldn't change the address. We had paid to have our post redirected but the tickets still went to our old building address where they were apparently signed for, but we don't know by who, so we ended up having to buy more tickets the day before the festival. Royal Mail say we can't start refund proceedings because their contract is with the ticket company, not us. The ticket company say they can't do anything because after the tickets are handed over, it's between us and Royal Mail - who won't deal with us because we didn't pay for the special delivery....and so it goes on!
Any ideas??

Beware of firms selling computers, both online and in shops. If you have a problem and suspect the item, PC, laptop - not likely a Mac, but hey - or software, they try to get you to take up your complain with the manufacturer. Ever tried to ge Microsoft to answer its phone, or indeed, tried to find a phone number? Anyone have any idea how to tackle these recalcitrant scamps? Because they're the retailers with whom you made your contract to buy, if my scant attention paid to university law course Ifailed) still stands me in good stead0
