Hi - hoping for some help

I have been a Sky+ customer for a couple of years now. I was interested in upgrading to Sky HD as had just got a new HD TV. I went to the Sky website, logged on and checked out how much upgrading would cost me.

The website informed me that there would be a £75 charge for the box, £30 installation fee and my new monthly cost would be £30 per month.

I was happy with those costs so purchased the upgrade online. The sales confirmation page on the website after purchasing detailed my payment details – including re-confirming my monthly fee would now be £30 per month

I then received a letter in the post detailing what my monthly payments would be . It states that after my next payment my monthly fee would be £30 per month.

However, they then sent me a letter a month after the letter above stating that my monthly fee would be £50 a month. This is 65% higher than the fee I had accepted and signed up to. I called their call centre to be told that it had been an error and it was £50. I had to pay it or return my equipment. This is incredibly unreasonable and you have not treated me fairly.

Their response has been pay £50 per month or return the equipment. I cant afford teh £50 a month so going to have to return - but do i have to do this?

Thanks all for help in advance!
• Bit of advise needed this afternoon..... Hope you can help :-)

Purchased a Plasma TV from Littlewoods direct and had it delivered on Friday. That evening when the TV was turned off i noticed a wedge shaped darkened area on the screen. It looks like its on the glass, but you can only tell when you have dark screens or the TV is off.
Anyway ive spoken to Littlewoods direct who have said to return it and they'll send another out. I've told them i would like a replacement sent and i'll send this one back. They have now said i need to have an engineer called out to check it who may send it away to get repaired and then brought back to me. I'm not happy with the fact i had a Tv less than 24hrs and it needs to be sent away to be repaired. Engineer should be out this afternoon but what if they say it can be repaired ???? Where do i stand ? Can i demand a replacement sent ? Surely a TV less than 24 hrs old should not be sent away to be repaired ?

Any advise would be appreciated

I've had an engineer out yesterday who says the TV has a manufacturing fault and cannot be repaired. So today i've been onto Littlewoods direct who now tell me they are out of stock of these TV's and don't know when they are having any more in. So they said "just return the TV and we will refund you", but i'm not going to get a 42" Samsung Plasma tv for £378.
Its not the point that i had the TV less than 24 hrs and told them it was faulty. If i want a replacement then i will have to pay approx another £100 for the replacement model ( which as i can see no difference what so ever ).
The next thing they said is order another online then if we get anymore in then you'll get one and you can send the faulty one back....... so i have to pay interest on my card for the purchase of 2 TV's which of one is faulty and the other not knowing if i'm going to get

I'm left with a faulty tv and no resolution to what i am satisfied with....... any ideas anyone ????

You can claim under the guarantee they gave you. Tell them the sofa is not fit for purpose and if they don't repair it you will go to the Small Claims Court. You cannot get a refund after this length of time. Send them a recorded delivery letter to this effect and copy your card company in on it.

Regards,
Art.

Hi

I sent a letter recorded delivery to Laura Ashley and copied in my card company, and have not received a response from either party. I gave them two weeks to respond and its now three weeks since I wrote to them. I stated that if I didn't receive a satisfactory resolution i would have no alternative but to proceed through the small claims court. Is this now the only way forward and will it be expensive if they decide i don't have a case?
• I've been waiting for pixmania tv for a week now, they said they'd get some in last Saturday, got no further update since, their phone number doesn't work, my emails aren't being answered. Should I just wait or...

No money has been taken as the order was through the amazon marketplace but I would have liked a TV for the christmas period.

I've had the same problem. Should have had an ipod nano delivered a week ago but no sign, phoned up, on hold for 10 minutes (literally) only to be told their system was down and could i call back another time.

My money has been taken though.
Trying to be good, not always succeeding. :A:beer:
• I phoned them to make sure the item was in stock on 16.12.08 and was told it was, I imediately made the order as it was a xmas gift for my daughter. I received a comfirmation e-mail after placing my order then 1hour and 9 mins later received another e-mail telling me that it was not in stock. I phoned them again (got through after 15mins) explained phone call from earlier and asked if money had been taken from my account. They told me NO money had been taken and I could cancel my order if I wished. I said I would like to cancel and was told an e-mail would be sent comfirming this. 10 mins later I received the e-mail for my cancelation but also received another one for a refund request. I checked my account and discovered they had taken the money, £350. I phoned them again (25 mins this time) and asked to speak to a manager but was told no one was available, when I told the person on the phone that it was not acceptable she put the phone down on me. My husband then contacted them and was told someone would call him back which they did and he was told that they would get the money back in the account within 24h. We are now 48hrs later and still no refund. We have also been to the bank and have been told to get in touch with their fraud department as all of the information we had been given was not right and we was also told that no money should have been taken from the account. Will keep you informed.

• Just checked Pixmania website and they are saying the item I ordered is in stock at a cheaper price now.
• I bought a fairly high-end Panasonic microwave (£250) just under a year ago from a leading department store. It died completely after 6 months, and they insisted on repairing rather than replacing it, which I agreed to; and was without the oven for about 3 weeks.

Now it's gone wrong again (a different fault, it 'partly' works), days before the end of the 12-month warranty. I contacted the retailer today and said that I wasn't happy having it repaired again, primarily (a) as I felt that the machine clearly was fundamentally a 'dud' and I had no confidence that it wouldn't go wrong again very soon, but also (b) I didn't see why I should be deprived of the machine for a few more weeks while they fixed it.

I asked for a like-for-like replacement on the grounds that it wasn't of merchantable quality (after all this was an expensive, allegedly decent model), however I was turned down flat - repair or nothing.

So I'm now deciding what to do - just take it on the chin or do I have grounds for pursuing this further? I don't want to end up in the Small Claims Court if I really don't stand a prayer!

Hi, does anyone know if I have any rights after nearly a year? I bought a creative zen vision m from Argos on 24/12/07 and the sticker containing the serial number has just come off to reveal an 'R' stamped on the product. I have discovered that I was sold a refurbished unit. This was not clear in the description and was at the full price for a brand new product. Do I have any rights bearing in mind the unit is 4 days away from being a year from purchase? I did pay extra for an extended 2 year guarantee, but am not happy now I have found I have been mis sold thinking it was brand new.
