Thanks Art, you pointed me in the right direction.

    Here ...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_13406-2

... states that a TV of my size ( 1024 X 768 = 0.8 million pixels ) if categorised under the worst class of the ISO 13406-2 standard, is considered faulty if any more than 120 dead pixels develop. I have a full row which equates to 1024... I think I may have a case here!

Point this out to Currys and give them 10 days to sort the problem out for you or tell them you will go to the Small Claims Court. If you paid by credit card copy your card company in as well.

Remember that it is Currys that are responsible for dealing with this problem. Don't let them fob you off by telling you to deal with the manufacturer.

    Regards,
    Art.

Thanks again Art, I did as you said and quoted some key points from the Sale of Goods Act, summarised the ISO 13406-2 for them and copied in my credit card company. I posted the letter by recorded first class delivery and gave them 10 days to respond, I also threatened to use the Small Claims Court.

I just have to wait on there reponse now!

    Hi,

Can any one help me on my rights on this question.

I bought my wedding ring from beaverbrooks in June, and started to wear it on september the 5th when i got married. it is a white gold ring, and after a few weeks it became scrathched and the white coating came off after 1 month i returned it in November where i was told it was my fault that it came off. I have snet 2 letters of complaint to their head office and have now asked for a full refund as thye didnt tell me the ring would need recoating on a regular basis, my argument is that they failed to mention this to me therefore have missold me a ring with a valy of £399.00.

What can i do to get my refund?

Any coments would be helpful as i have never been down this road before

    many thanks

Send a recorded delivery letter to the head office. Tell them you are rejecting the ring under the Sale of Goods Act as being 'not of merchantable quality. Tell them you want a full refund within 10 days and if this isn't forthcoming you will go to the Small Claims Court.

If you paid with a credit card copy your card company as well.

The responsibility is Freemans not Samsungs. Write a recorded delivery letter to Freemans telling them under the Sale of Goods Act you are rejecting the TV as being 'not fit for purpose' and if they don't give you a refund/replacement/repair (your choice) within 7 days you will go to the Small Claims Court.

basically i did things by the book and i kept in touch with consumer direct but to cut a long story short the tv went to the engineers 3 weeks ago today and i've been intervening on behalf of my daughter.she was told it would be away for 10-11 days but after not hearing owt after 13 she rang them.they couldn't give tv back cos of intermittent fault and they didn't know the problem-freemans already this was the problem as my daughter had told them.signed for letter is sent off off giving 14 days for them to contact daughter or...... it was received although as yet i don't know who signed.RM cocked up cos they didn't ask for signature but i was told that it had been logged in the book in the mail room at freemans.today engineer ( well very rude receptionist anyway) rang to say they were giving tv back to daughter as fault was still intermittent and they asked when on friday could they bring it.daughter is told that freemans told them she couldn't have replacement-but still no contact from them.she is told she will have to ring freemans.call is made tonight and there's no knowledge ( on screen anyway) of received letter-woman tells me to send another letter!!! i don't think so.last week daughter was told a specialist dept was dealing with the matter.i've asked for a callback from team leader and i stated that under no circumstances am i sending out another letter and that they should have been in touch by now.i've given up waiting/being given different advice by different people @ consumer direct.i won't give up but i'm extremely frustrated and it's christmas and i haven't a clue what i can do now.wish i had a fone number of one of the freeman's bigwigs

    Hi all

I ordered a Spykee from play.com for the price of £189.99 it arrived on Monday the 1st of December. I went onto my account to check on another order only to notice that Play.com had reduced the price of the Spykee to £149.99 (on the 1st of December). I called them to see if they would refund the differnce or apply a credit to my account and they refused.

    Is the below correct?
Should a company reduce its price on any product within fourteen (14) calendar days of the date of purchase, you may request a refund of the difference between the price paid and the current selling price. An original purchase receipt is required and you must request your refund within fourteen (14) calendar days of the price reduction.
Any and all help would be appricated, as my ten year old son bought it with his birthday money.
    Thanks in advance Nat

This has been raised a few times before. If the price had been increased would you have paid the difference?
