What are my rights? can i demand refund/credit note as it's in it's original packaging obviously unused?
Thanks
Youcan ask nicely but you cant demand anything as you have no right to take it back , just be nice and polite and they may let you exchange it for something else of get a giftcard0 -
I bought a suite of furniture from dfs in dec 2006. The recliner chair that came with the suite I had to buy 'as seen' as they didn't have another the same and wouldn't have one. The arm of the chair has now come away from the side of the seat and I was wondering do I have any comeback with this, as it wasn't like this when I bought it.0

37'' samsung LCD telly bought from freemans ( buy now pay next year) four months ago.has developed a fault where the screen goes black but switching on/off gets picture back again.phone call made to freemans last Friday who said they would pass on contact details to engineers and should receive a fone call Monday at the latest.it didn't happen so a call was made directly ( was given engineers number from freemans when call was made last week) this morning to find out that the wrong details had been given and the engineers tried ringing yesterday but gave up ( one would expect them to contact freemans).tv is gonna be picked up a week today but not sure how long they will keep it for.fone call to samsung ( by myself) tell me that when freemans buy in bulk it's on the understanding that samsung wash their hands of the goods and freemans take over once goods have been purchased.i asked samsung if it was possible for a replacement and was told that if the goods have a problem within two weeks then a replacement can be given-once bought, any queries have to be taken up with freemans
the person who bought the tv wasn't in a position to buy online or the high street ( hence the catalogue) and for the fact that it's pretty new and could quite possibly go wrong again once repaired can one go down the road of asking freemans for a new tv? i understand that if the engineer's keep the telly for longer than two weeks then it's deemed acceptable to ask for a replacement.hope somebody can help me a bit

Question about Argos exclusion from 30 day money back guarantee please.
I bought a DS game which is excluded from their 30 day money back guarantee.
I want to take it back as it is not required - it has not been opened, original cellophane packaging is intact. I don't mind a credit note or a refund.

Thanks
This rule is to prevent people copying items then taking them back. You can only return it if it is faulty. As deanos says you can ask nicely particularly as it is unopened.

The responsibility is Freemans not Samsungs. Write a recorded delivery letter to Freemans telling them under the Sale of Goods Act you are rejecting the TV as being 'not fit for purpose' and if they don't give you a refund/replacement/repair (your choice) within 7 days you will go to the Small Claims Court.

Question about the sales of good act
I bought a acer laptop from Comet (no extended warranty) in early 2006 and the LCD Screen has gone in the last month or so (still can see the screen but there is a thick line of different colour running down the screen) would that be enough of a defect to enquire about the sales of goods act?
What would be the best route of action should i claim against Comet?0 -

Not sure if this should be posted here or not, anyway.........
4 weeks ago I bought a car from a private seller through Autotrader. I took it for it's MOT today and basically it's not fit for anything except the scrapheap!
I did anticipate that it may need a few things done to it but even though I only paid £450 I think it was reasonable to assume that any damage shouldn't have been terminal!
Having searched the MSE site I found this - "Note private sellers of cars works like all second hand private sales (see above) however unless stated you have a right to expect the car will pass an MOT".
I have an email from the seller telling me that it should have no problem passing it's MOT as it's a good runner. Have I kissed goodbye to my £450 or is there a way of using their email to prove that I had the right to expect the car would pass it's MOT?
If there is a route to getting my money back - how do I go about it?
Any help would be most appreciated.Never look down on anybody unless you are helping them up.0 -

Give them a call. DFS give a two year guarantee as standard so you should be ok.0 -
I bought a TV in August and by October it had developed a fault. The trader referred me to the manufacturer who in turn put me in touch with a service depot. It's now been in for repair for 2 weeks and is awaiting a new part. How long is it reasonable to wait for the repair to be done?0
