John Lewis guarantee their TVs for 5 years!! I had a problem with a Sony portable after 4 years, the picture went, and they came and picked it up and took it away, fixed it and brought it back. I didn't ask for a replacement as I had another one. Also why don't you get another person or two (friend) to look at the fault, in order to reassure yourself that you aren't imagining it. Also the repair person should be able to see it in your house without taking it away. Just a thought anyway. I agree with Art, just call them.0

Distance Selling Regs! Items,(unless specially ordered or made to specs), can be returned for no reason up to 7 working days after delivery

The key features of the regulations are:- you must give consumers clear information including details of the goods or services offered, delivery arrangements and payment, the supplier's details and the consumer's cancellation right before they buy (known as prior information)
- you must also provide this information in writing
- the consumer has a cooling-off period of seven working days.
3. Know your distance selling rights- check your cancellation rights before making a purchase: under the Distance Selling Regulations you can get a full refund on many products if you cancel within seven working days after the day of receipt
- if returning goods you are entitled to a refund of the original delivery cost but check the terms and conditions to see who will cover the cost of returning them
- traders are not allowed to deduct a restocking charge or administration fee for returned goods
- if you wish to cancel, you must take reasonable care of the goods you are returning
- check and keep all receipts, order confirmations and correspondence
- goods should be delivered within 30 days after date of order, unless you agree to a different delivery timeframe
- complain to the trader if you have a problem shopping online
- contact Consumer Direct if the trader does not resolve your problem

Hi all,
I'm hoping you can help me.
I bought a dress from Coast at debenhams for my DD to wear at my Sd wedding last saturday.
The dress has detachable straps. The straps have plastic hooks to fasten them to the dress.
Shortly after putting the dress on the straps started coming undone, so I tightened them a little. This happened often to the point the straps wouldn't stay on. When I looked at the straps the plastic has misshaped and is now at a downward angle - this is on both straps.
I bought the dress in early July - debenhams have a 4 week return period.
I took the dress back to the store on Monday with the receipt, I also had the bag and tissue paper so took it back in them.
Thinking about it, it must have looked planned. This wasn't the case, I'm just a horder of nice bags and wrapping paper:o
The assistant said that as it had been worn - once for the wedding - that she couldn't give me a refund. She offered me new straps, saying there was nothing wrong with the dress and the straps are not part of the dress
I said I wasn't happy with that because I think it would only happen again.
She then said she didn't have the authority to give me a refund and the manager wasn't in for a few days.
I haven't been back yet because I'm looking after my 4 year old & 15mth GC while Sd on honeymoon.:eek:
Does anyone know where I stand with this?

I'm needing a quick piece of advice about a consumer issue.
I bought a motorbike jacket in a sale a week ago and when I got home and put the jacket on to use it I noticed that it had a large hole in the bottom of one of the pockets!
I called the shop on the Monday morning and explained the problem to them and they said they'd call me back on Wednesday and let me know what was happening with a replacement. They never called me back so I called them on Thursday and was told they were trying to arrange a replacement and they'd call me back in 15 minutes to let me know what's happening. Needless to say they haven't bothered and I'm starting to get sick of them not calling back.
Would it be reasonable for me to return the jacket to the shop and demand a refund as it was faulty when I bought it?
Is it within my consumer rights to do this?0 -

Yes, you can return the jacket and demand a full refund. Unless the hole was pointed out to you the jacket should have been in perfect condition and is not of merchantable quality with a hole.

hi just wondered if u can help my friend bought a condenser tumble dryer from argos feb 08 for the past 2 weeks it has been tripping all her electrics she got an electrician out checked house electrics plugged all electrical items in one at a time definatly tumble dryer phoned argos connected to many different people when she got to speak to someone from indeset they have told her they will only repair even though it is less than a year old0
