Better still, use an ISP that does not have long term contracts, that way if you are not happy, you can move.

My ISP has a 30 day contract only.

How long have you been with them and how much do they charge per month?

The proxy method is now blocked.

Either the open proxy has been withdrawn or abbey or tiscali have blocked it.

I cannot find any other proxy that works, even through a non tiscali account where the login actually works!

All bets are off with this one. Either change your bank or change your isp!

just had a reply from tiscal technical support with regards to an email sent on Saturday

Thank you for contacting Tiscali Technical Support.
I gather from your email that you are unable to access the Abbey banking websites.

I would like to inform you that your case has already been escalated to our concerned department under the reference number ********* with highest priority and work is still under progress. I would like to assure you that it would be solved at the earliest. I would like to request you to bear with us.

i think this proves its tiscali fault for sure;)
don't think they will get it sorted though;)

Almost 2 years, IDNet, they charge £17.99 a month, not the cheapest, but certainly amongst the best available.

Almost instant support on a freephone number by experts that always help.

They don't throttle lines like BT are reported to do.

No, I don't have any links with them, other than being one very happy customer.;)

    Nice one.
I might give them a go when my BT contract finishes.
As for BT throttling well I don't download between 5pm and 11pm and I always get full speed.

  • i sent an email into bbc R4 'you and yours' titled "Why are some Abbey online banking customers having to 'hack' into their own accounts ?"
so maybe they'll look into it.

letmeinnow - after reading your post I have just emailed the evening standard in the hopes that once this becomes public knowledge and hits the papers that something will be done. If the customers cannot get either of these 2 companies to resolve the issue, maybe the power of the media can!

Post 54 clearly tells all where the problem is; Tiscali, not abbey.;)

just had reply from the abbey

I'm sorry that you're having problems trying to access our e-banking service. A small number of our customers from certain Internet Service Providers are experiencing technical difficulties with the link from our homepage. This matter is currently being investigated.

In the meantime you may want to contact your Internet Service Provider to raise the matter with them.

i have of course had reply from tiscali(previous post)

i know this may not help all, but at least we have had a reply;)
