'course not Lucie - that's the sort of thing I do.:D However, all my family as well as Mr TM's family will be around at Xmas, so all pressies have to be bought befor Xmas.
Forgot to say - just started the tres important pre-Xmas holiday job. I bought lots of cheapy vodka and am now filtering it in my spare water filter, ready to decant into to the saved Smirnoff bottle, kept from last Xmas, for this very jobI'm sure MIL won't notice - I'm darned sure I don't care!!:shhh:
Just better make sure I know which filter is which at lunch-time*hic*

Lucie wrote:My christmas present list is looking a bit healthier - just OH's family in Wales to buy for now. HOWEVER we won't see them til Jan at the earliest so I might just wait & buy their prezzies in the sales. Is that bad?
Nope not at all! My ds was born middle of January and over the years many of his birthday pressies were bought in the after Christmas sales! It was the only way we could do it on what was then a very poor income and he soon got used to waiting a month for his annuals!
I have just had an early (for me) start to my day and got to our poundland and stocked up! Christmas stockings and their contents today so very pleased. Breadmaker is on, also the w machine, just need my replacement slow cooker which Morphy Richards have promised will be turning up any day now! Their customer service is great, the control panel was loose on my sc and instead of sending out parts or the metal casing they are replacing the whole cooker! :T I am very impressed but am missing using it and might get my Mums old tower out and into use.
Has anyone else had trouble getting darning needles? I guess no one else bothers with them now but I needed one to sew up a hat I've just knitted (first hat I have ever made! and the brightest pink imaginable  but the friend I made it for loved the scarf in the same colour that I made earlier!) My eyesight is not as good as it was for close work (even with the glasses!lol) and I am hopeless at threading needles! I normally wait until my friend comes round or go to her to get them threaded but as the hat is for her I need to sort this out myself!
Need to make up some Christmas cards today and have to go find some glue! Hope everyone else is having a good day!
PP So sorry that you are so often in great pain, it just doesn't seem fair when you are so young! Sending positive thoughts your way and hoping that it eases soon. Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

I'm not the least bit offended
The cooking I learned out of sheer self defence because I was serving up some awful meals in the early days of living as a singleton, and much of the other OS stuff...
..to some extent I'm a natural, but since joining OS and reading so much good stuff as I work through and index things a whole lot more has kinda soaked in
That and a bit of practice driving the search engine lets me help people find things that otherwise might get lost in the huge collection of information we have here.
And it stops me being bored.
(Maybe madfrenchgirl should pick herself a subject to make an idex of)

Having just spent ten days getting one poorly daughter better - I had planned to spend today ironing and wrapping a few more pressies - also expecting replacement delivery from cosmetics direct as my parcel got lost.
Another DD is now poorly!!!! Parcel arrived with only half the stuff and no free cosmetics!!!! Phoned them yet again!
Have soup in slow cooker and will make shepherds pie for tonight.
May go in to Leeds and get a couple of jumpers from Primark as it is getting cold - may even get a pair of boots and a cardigan - at primark prices I can afford it.
DH is home so can leave DD to his care for once."This site is addictive!"

Petal wrote:Hey Nabowla! Just stick the bananas in the freezer in their skins and thaw them when you're ready to make your banana bread! I did this recently and baked the bread last Saturday - it was scrummy! No probs at all.

Brilliant idea - had no idea I could do this!!! Not only does it solve today's dilemma but now I know exactly what to do when I've got one lonely, squishy banana at the bottom of the fruit bowl. I used to chuck it out because I didn't have enough to make the bread - now I can just save them up in the freezer until I've got enough. Thank you so much.0
