At home sick for the second day in a row. I've got a rotten cold - first in 18 months - and am feeling very sorry for myself. I want lots of HM chicken soup and other goodies brought to me by a slave tending to my every whim. However, as I live on my own, I don't think that's going to happen!!! If I'm feeling a bit more awake later on I'll make some HM french onion soup (no ingredients in the flat suitable for chicken soup - grrr).
Once I've recovered fully I shall have to think about putting an emergency groceries supplies box together. I got caught out this time and didn't have very much in at all - no emergency Ribena, no crackers, nothing. I had to stagger out to the corner shop yesterday afternoon, which was utterly exhausting. The long-term plan is to put together a few dry groceries in a cardboard box and store it under the bed so that I don't raid it when I'm just plain disorganised. But that can wait for a couple of days!!!0 -
Just thought I'd say hi!
Been at work for last hour - nobody else is in and there is nothing to do. So I've had a HM yoghurt, 1/2 grapefruit and some dried apricots. Lunch is HM soup and dinner is HM fishcakes from freezer with salad- not much by some standards but for me that's almost angelic!
Wishing I was at home sorting out the chaos. We ordered a sofa last week thinking it would give us a few weeks grace to decorate lounge - it's being delivered tomorrow! We've been going mad at home stripping wallpaper, sanding etc. Finished first coat on walls at 11.30pm last night - 2nd tonight hence super quick tea. Hubby has day off tomorrow to wait for boiler man (no heating ATM) and to find somewhere to fit new sofa! Hee hee!
Still looking for somebody to take old sofa off our hands - local charities aren't responding. **note to self: look up freecycle**
Off to make another cuppa and open post. Then looks like I'll be playing with boss' new puppy and reading magazines for the day
Have a lovely dayNew year, no debt! Debt free date - 02/01/07 :j :j :j0 -
Morning all!
Trip to Lakeside went okay yesterday. Found lovely present for MIL in Debenhams - would have been £16.00 but only 12.20. It's a pale pink leatherette jewellery box. (SIL works in a jeweller's so MIL usually gets at least one piece of jewellery for Christmas!) If MIL doesn't need it she can wrap it up and give to her youngest GD for 14th birthday in March! LOL!
But the best bargain of the day was a cufflink box for DS - it was in Next and marked £12.99 (we hadn't been able to find one anywhere else) but when DH went to pay for it, it came up as a "Sale" item and was only £4.99! How good is that! (He spent what he'd saved, on Christmassy choccy lollies for his colleagues from Thorntons which he would have bought anyway.)
Had Big Mac and fries for lunch *guilt* but was the first one in 2 years... really enjoyed it too, it was just what I fancied...!
Hope everyone's colds get better fast - I've got one too now...bring on the vitC and Zinc lozenges!
Hope you all have a good day!
Penny Pincher, I forgot to say yesterday, so pleased you are going to do that OU course! I'm sure you'll really enjoy it.

Morning all, it's a beautiful morning here, really cold and frosty but the sun is shining
Manic start to the day because DD2 kept telling me it was non uniform day on Friday - found the slip in her bookbag and it was actually today so we had 5 minutes to get her changed out of her uniform and into something pink that didn't need ironing and to find a tombola prize which was the 'payment' for the day.
The rest of the day is baking for the school Christmas Fair tomorrow. They want the stuff by 3pm so I had better get crackingI only came on here to find a recipe for chocolate chip muffins
DD1's birthday cake was almost suicide by chocolate in the end, the sponge wasn't cooked as well as it could have been, it was still slightly gooey in the middle but strangely enough the skewer had come out clean when I stuck it in to test. Still it all got eaten very rapidly and she was very happy
Both birthdays over with now, all I have to concentrate on now is Christmas.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Morning all - really cold and frosty start here this morning - typically as I wasn't working and could have a lie in, I was wide awake at 6am, got up made coffee and went back to bed to read until the house had heated up a little. Was lovely walking DD's to school on the crunchy, frosty grass tho - I do love this time of year.
Inspired by the lovely sunny day I've got all the nets down in the living room (and there's lots of them - the back is like a brick built conservatory) washed all the windows and frames down and stuck the nets in with lots of soda crystals to try and get them nice a bright. I've hoovered the house all through, washings washing - tumbles tumbling and dishwasher is going. Kitchen floor has been washed and I'm finally sitting down with a coffee and about to order the shopping from tesco and sort out a dehumidifier if I can find one cheap enough.
Got In-laws coming tomorrow afternoon, they'll be going home on Sunday so need to do lots of cooking tomorrow morning to get prepaired.
Hope you all have a wonderful day and enjoy the sun if you've got it."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Brrrrrrrrr, it's cold today. The heating is chugging away now but I think I have let myself get too cold and it takes me ages to warm up then due to sluggish circulation and other bits n bobs that are wrong with me:rolleyes: If all else fails I shall go and have a long soak in the bath.
Made double chilli (freeze half - eat half) this morning which is in the slo-cooker now and I keep getting a whiff of it which is making me feel hungry and I plan to whip up a spotted !!!!!! for pud and bake a loaf.
Nothing much else to report... have a goodun!Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
Hello :j
I'll try again because my first post went caput
Anyway, just returned from a play centre where DS2 has been running off steam with a couple of his mates. Got to hold my friends baby and no, I'm not broody(Better not be, I've just flogged almost all of my baby stuff
) However, I think DS2 is coming down with something. He's tired, a bit hot and mopey, but currently eating a sausage whilst watching NickJr. He'll probably have a kip later, though if he's awake late into the evening, I don't know whether that's good or bad
So, WM waiting for another load, TD awaiting a load, dishy needs switching on, vac needs introducing to the carpets again and I need to make some more soup. Am making a Quorn shepherds pie tonight, so will get on with that before the hoards come home from shcool and find there's no meat in itHaven't used it before so it's a new one on me too.
My windows desperately need doing - billions of finger marks where the kids see how high they can jump and drag their sticky mitts down the panes. :(I want to sort my kitchen cupboards out so I can see what else I have and make lists of what I need next time I do a major shop. May even make some fudge tonight too
MATH - you've just reminded me to go and add the other half of the duvet to make it winter weight. I couldn't get warm last night cos I'd got too cold being on here after the heating went off. If I get cold feet and hands then that's me done for re getting to sleep
Ok, off to heat up the last portion of carrot and coriander soup I've just got out of the freezer. Have a good day all

Well I've just had an interesting school run, everybody wanted to pinch the suicide by chocolate cake that I baked for the school fete
A friend has just got a job at the weekend but her DH doesn't want her to work and a little girl was crying her eyes out because her mum has gone back to working full time days and she wanted her mum and not the afterschool club that picked her up.
I really don't want to go back to work, wonder if DH will agree to that though?Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
