Troo - thanks for the link. The programme looks interesting. But am I the only one who thinks all three ladies look years older than they really are?
Have been hooked into watching the Olympics opening ceremony...WOW!!! All I can think of is what on earth are we going to do in four years time to equal that?

Lamewolf, I am luckily one of those people who performs better in a crisis lol. Thanks for thinking of me though x Hugs to you and I hope your hands get better soon x

Everyone else who has thought of Dave and wished him well thankyou so much :grouphug: you guys are what is keeping me strong for him, I think I'd crumple without you all x

Love to all the pets (and temporary pets) out there - they're as much a part of the family as we are

Pink.1970, as someone who used to work for the jobcentre, I know what you are going through, good luck and keep your chin up, if you need any advice I'm here

mummysaver, there is so much smut potential in gardening, and I never remember to check how I'm phrasing things :D

Troo - loved that article will have to try and catch the show. I thought the fifties house looked fab until I saw the turquoise bar. I went off all of it after that!

:grouphug: to any one who needs one (or who just wants one)

Big news is that I've managed to get the aminopyralid story onto the PM show on Radio 4 at 5pm tomorrow - have a listen if you're about ;) They just phoned me and tried to get me to record my bit but what with being tired and stuff I fluffed it all three times so I don't think I'll actually be on it myself :rotfl:. But they have interviewed my friend John whose entire site is contaminated, and they've spoken to the Soil Association and others so it should be a good segment. I feel a little guilty about the website as I've so much work left to do on it, but as the aminopyralid crew have said, Dave is the priority right now so its tough. I'm still not very good at letting things go. By the way if people haven't signed the petition yet, could they please? http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Aminopyralid/

Good news is that Dave's boss has been to visit (not in a nasty way - they're good mates) and has said they'll pay him 80% of his wages for as long as he is off :jalthough this week will still be at SSP. So grateful as I was getting a little worried about just how the bills were going to be paid. We have managed to clear our debts but not to get any savings together yet. Other than that the patient is unchanged, he has been coughing though which puts pressure on his tummy so I'm on the phone to NHS direct to see what he can take. I'd never called them before this week now I'm thinking of putting them on speed dial lol.

It has occurred to me that I have no idea what 'plain food' is or what is good for convalescents. Normally after a meal of plain scrambled eggs and one of chicken soup the person isn't ill anymore, so I've never needed to look into it beyond that. I'll tootle off to find out in a minute.

Also getting a little paranoid that people will think it was my cooking that gave Dave food poisoning! It wasn't, he wanted a takeaway as his last-day-of-the-holiday treat and it must of been that as I had eaten everything else he ate for the previous fortnight. Even though I know his boss said it as a joke I've got a bit worried now. Oh well, if people stop eating here it will at least mean I finally have some leftovers to recycle!

    Afternoon all

Work this morning and housework this afternoon - ooooh the excitement.

The Olympic opening ceremony has been absolutely jaw dropping hasn't it. I agree, how are we going to beat that :D

Just saw Rafa Nadal looking a bit nervous.

    Afternoon all,

Dry but not sunny here...hope that Mioliere and family are at least having weather that good for the kick-off at 4!

Picked some spinach and a kohlrabi to have for dinner, have a chicken in oven, will steam spinach and roast kohlrabi with squash, onion, garlic, mushrooms ( have a few which need using) and tomatoes. Lots of potatoes left from yesterday so will zip them through oven to heat and crisp them...

Bought some seeds and herb plants this morning...can't seem to keep tarragon going so bought a plant this time, nursery man says shouldn't be difficult but will put it in a big pot to give it a chance..so gardening this pm...after early dinner as I am very hungry.

Hugs to all who are not feeling well, or who have ill relatives and to all who have trouble of any kind to cope with.

    Afternoon all!
    be prepared for a rant!

My hospital appointment was a bit of an anticlimax:rolleyes: I went 17 miles to the hospital just for another smear:mad: my letter never mentioned a smear, just said I had an appointment with the consultant or a member of her team. I could have had a smear at our local doctors - I had one in May anyway and a colposcopy so why she needs yet another I dont know:rolleyes: I would have liked to have been prepared for a smear. So now goodness knows how much longer I will have to wait. My abnormal cells were spotted last November and I still havent had anything done.
After this my sister and I went to sainsburys and treated ourselves to a veggie breakfast and a browse round the shop:D

    rant over;)

've also had my nails done which was nice. I hope the wedding has gone ok for Mioliere's family.
Off for a quick browse now!
