I've not called anyone anything. When I said "mac fanboys" I wasn't actually thinking of the existing posters on this thread who happen to like and own macs.
I think any of the mac owners here should already know that despite me only owning a Windows PC at the moment I'm not anti-mac. Nor called any of them specifically fanboys (that I remember anyway). In fact I think I was rather open minded on one of my own threads about suggestions for high end computers."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Superscaper,
I think he may be having an "iViv Moment"; it is an unfortunate affliction induced by reading too many be_alright postings
I know you don't use a mac, but you have that kind of attitude.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

The only thing I'm "anti" is "antifanboy" to an extent. Whatever that's a fanboy of, don't like it when people develop a blind faith in something. Personally if I had the money I'd probably like to build my own high end Windows PC (hopefully one that'll be a reality in near future) AND have a sandbox pc to play linux with (really isn't for me at the moment as a main OS) AND one of those ultra high end Macs you linked to in the other thread. Yes that's greedy but I did say IF I had the money and I'm not really dismissive of anything. Oh and I'd also have an Acorn/RISC OS clone (because deep down we're all fanboys of something). I don't see what's wrong with liking everything and simply having a priority of preferences. It doesn't have to be a "for or against" mentality which does seem to occur frequently on this forum and really is a false dichotomy.

Dell XPS ONE
how can you compare a PC hardware to an Apple Mac
if i went out and built my own pc with parts off the net etc i could build a pc twice a fast/better than the top imac for cheaper!!!!!
you can't go out and build your own imac
so comparing an imac to a crappy DELL doesn't work i'm afraid
i'll quote you, that is just your post, and not make it look like that you've posted that info that i did...
i know that that comparison works well. if i compared an ugly box, with cables to the mains, monitor, and another cable there.. a pc will work out cheaper.. anyone who does any research knows that...
so what that you can build a computer, in a box, cheaper than dell sells a computer, all in one case, with a screen etc etc..
we're not comparing macs to pc's, that has been done to death.. i'm comparing the best selling imac, with the equivalent that is available on the consumer market, which is an all in one design..
your argument does not stand0 -

hmmm.. why if you decide to have a mac, you need a sandbox pc for linux... the mac can run linux for your geek moments, and you won't know it is there otherwise... *grins*0 -

Sandbox being a sandbox I'd want it to be independant by definition. Besides since this is a hypothetical with a dependancy on being affluent there's not much point in trying to be "efficient". Do you drive economically in your dreams to save on dream petrol? :rotfl:"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

how does it not stand......you compared a known overpriced crap PC with MAC's top selling one which is NOT a proper comparison .....so your argument does not standIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

superscaper wrote: »Not any more. Ignoring your own labour costs (as that isn't really the point), you can build your own pc that'd work better and cost in components much less. Custom PC recently did an article where they built a similarly specced PC as the Dell XPS 630. Their's performed better overall and was something like £250 cheaper!
but no support, which general joe bloggs wants....0 -

ok.. you go get the same components, price them up and do a comparison against what i'm comparing here, to clarify, it is a PC running vista, with an ALL IN ONE design, with an iMac, which is also an ALL IN ONE design... running OS X obviously, as it comes with that.
that is my argument, that the mac is REASONABLY priced, when it comes comparing spec for spec, design for design..0
