    Apple iMac 20"

    Intel Core 2 Duo Processor - (2.4GGHz, 1066MHz, 6MB cache)
    2GB Ram
    320GB Hard Drive
Slot Loading CD/DVD Burner - Dual Layer -

Add On - Elgato EYE TV - £70 (cheaper if you shop around!)

how can you compare a PC hardware to an Apple Mac

if i went out and built my own pc with parts off the net etc i could build a pc twice a fast/better than the top imac for cheaper!!!!!

you can't go out and build your own imac

so comparing an imac to a crappy DELL doesn't work i'm afraid
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right

Therein lies the problem. I like building my own PCs. I handpick the best components for the job, piece them all together, and create a machine of beauty for £cheap. But I wouldn't be able to (legally) install OSX on it, because Apple wouldn't let me.
That said, I'm considering buying a small hard drive and trying to run OSX on it anyway, just for fun. And to annoy my friend who just spent alot on an 8 core mac pro.

Speaking of which, a bit of a stupid decision by apple on that. It has wireless, but it is all inside the case. The metal case. The wireless signal can't even reach the BT homehub thats about 10 meters away through one wall.

Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

I think, iViv, that that's what's at the heart of your grievance against Apple.

And that's not fair: it isn't Apple's fault that you're poor.
Cat is right, you are wrong.

I'm primarily a gamer. An apple machine is pointless. Most games don't run in OSX, so why spend a premium on something I don't need. Its far better sense to spend that money on a better graphics card, faster CPU or a new heatsink.
Even if I could afford a mac, I'd just but the components I want individually, save a good deal of money, and be able to play games natively.

They've not got the best track record with things (e.g. Betamax). But the PS3 gamble looks like it has paid off, and their most recent format war actually did win. Every company gets trends wrong, some just more than others. :)
