Don't drag Creative into this rant, after the debacle of their Vista support for the X-Fi class of cards they'll never see another penny from me again.

Mmm? I've got an X-fi Xtreme gamer and Vista, and its fine, even in vista 64. Slight annoyance in having to set the games up with Alchemy to get EAX working, but other than that, I've not noticed any problems.

We must have been in the lucky few.

The driver support has been absolutely terrible for Vista, especially after they started deliberately gimping aspects of the card and then claiming they couldn't get them to work. A knight in shining armour by the name of daniel_k discovered this and enabled them. Creatives users rejoiced that they had a working product that creative could never deliver, and instead of taking it on the chin and doing something about it they took the legal approach against daniel_k. If you were on their discussion boards during this time then witnessing the majority of their userbase explode in rage at them was quite entertaining.

They've sorted them out properly now, but I think there's a foul taste in mouths that is going to drive people to Azuntech/Asus, rather than creative.

Once again, another company that dominated leaving very little choice for anyone else, but have fallen from grace now there are better cards out there and it's not like you even need a Creative card now EAX is emulated on other brands.

    What a life..
Creative make great speakers. Glad to hear you'll be depriving yourself of those, too. Wouldn't want you to try and ace me with your Vista on the ones I'm currently bidding on at eBay.

No I wouldn't. I have a set of Acoustic Energy Aego M's that are much better than anything Creative could ever dream of manufacturing.
I suppose you'll be replacing your iPod with one of those ingenious and far-sighted Zune things from Microsoft. They do need somebody to buy one.

It will either be a Sony or a Zune, yes.
But what's wrong with just using one's ordinary mobile 'phone as an M4A player? Mine's a Sony Ericsson and it does the job fine. Sony knows a thing or two about music devices. Bluetooth stereo headset is nice.

I've never attempted it, so I'm not sure if it is possible, but using a phone as a modem and using the media capabilities would probably use the battery up very quickly.

Yeah. Netshare must really have really spooked them.

Haven't got an iPhone but I downloaded that one for safe keeping as soon as I saw it.

Yeah, but the thing is, with this new update to the iphone, apple can nuke the app from peoples phones without telling anyone.

Yes, Microsoft would probably have done something similar if they released a phone, so I don't blame apple. But some people seem to thing that the sun shines out of Steve Jobs' !!!! (Not saying you do), when he's actually very similar to Gates. They both run multinational companies designed to make money. They've just chosen slightly different markets, and ways of targeting them.

I don't have a beef with microsoft. I'm saying that its something they would probably do (Which it what it strikes me as). However, its not them doing it, its Apple, who are supposed to be all good and consumer friendly.

True, but at least they don't slip in rootkits :D

I've never really looked into Sony laptops as they are too expensive, but for that price don't you get a more powerful laptop than what you would get for the same price as an apple? If not, they it seems pointless, I would go for the apple.
Though I don't have enough money for either D:
