Seth, and others,
Does anyone have links to the german sites which explain the how tos of adding USB support by upgrading firmware. Can anyone who does this give the rest of us feedback so we dont blow too many units!
Also can anyone confirm success running the multiregion CD upgrade (is the idea to set to 0?)
thanks,
Martin
(still no units in Aberdeen by the way - checked after Neilk's post!!)0 -

I saw one bad review on VCDhelp could not make much sense of this thread. I'd appreeciate and pointers to reviews and how to make this multi region. There are box shots in ebay: The logo on the box says DivX Certified so it has an an official DivX codec for good compatibilty. It will also have an Open source XVid codec, so it should playback most files. I have several DivX/Xvid players and the ones with DivX offical support are nice as they play the more types of AVI codec.
<Off Topic on> I was after a wireless player as now I have lots of DVD rewriteables to burn watch and reuse, so the PC is STILL the bottleneck
Players like those from KISS have wireless access (via FTP) worth considering if you want to minimise time on the PC. I want one that supports WPA not just WEP for the wireless access.

Read this "The 8900P / 5100x have a internal USB port with external two memory slot readers. The 1.385201 from LG poland doesn't support this. However 1.385201 with memory card reader support is now available if your interested" here. Would it be possible to reconnect the jumpt from the USB port to a stock one and attach an external hard drive? There are photos here and I know its been mooted bust has anyone seen a flash file to enable this? If so it would be great I could attach a large USB HD
Looks like it may have been done, but I can't read german. If someone would be kind enought to email the author I'd appreciate it.

Just came back from Lidl. THere were about 20-30 people queuing before it opened. Soon as it opened, half of these people ran to the dvd players, a bit like the opening of a Harrods sale :-)
Didnt really need to though, there must have been about 100 units there ... most folks picked up two. I did not see anyone buying more than 3. When I left, about half the stock remained.
Tested it ... its a really lovely looking player, but it DOES NOT SUPPORT PACKED BITSTREAM OUT OF THE BOX. Now, where is that firmware upgrade link.....0 -
What model number is it? I really want one of these, but only if I can upgrade the firmware.0

I went to Edgware and my friend to Wembley and they both sold out within 2 minutes of opening - both had large queues and they were rationed to one per person.0

I've just come back from the Aberystwyth store and they had 2 pallets left when I left, even though loads of people were buying them. There was a limit of 2 per customer, which was ok because I got one for myself and one for my gf.
They had loads in the Queensferry store too (according to my Dad).
I'm about to try one of them out.Boo!0 -
Popped over to the sheffield branch an hour ago. I noticed loads of people walking out with multiples - 4 or more ! So they didnt seem to have a limit per person. I got there just in time to get the last two.
SO they are selling like hot cakes, but I think they really should have a limit per person. At my local store they didnt seem to ...0
