for the stuffing i bought a pack of 2 smart price pillows from asda at £2.97. it seems to work fine. I have made 2 so far and used about 1/4 of the stuffing from 1 pillow so it goes a long way i should manage to get 16 monkeys worth for my £3 (just under 18p per monkey)

I have placed a order on ebay for some charms (read loads of charms as i couldn't decide which i wanted) i got some angel ones which has made for an angel on the back, some hearts with made with love on them some hands that say hand made and some hearts that say made just for you. as they were all from the same seller i got a postage discount and was just under a fiver for 80 different charms delivered. like i'm going to manage to make 80 monkeys lol

just about to start on my 3rd to day if my daughter ever decides to go for a nap

Fab monkeys pennib and stardrops - I love the hats, and the banana sweets idea, fantastic!

I made another monkey last night from some fab pirate motif socks from Primark, and gave him a pirate hat too. I wanted to give him an eye patch but the socks are black and it wouldn't show up so I didn't bother. Did the machine stitching for another at the same time so might sit and stuff and sew him later - well it doesn't look like this baby wants to come out anytime soon. Oh well, more time for making sock monkeys then, what a shame!

    Here he is:

The hat is just the actual sock, and a little left-over piece tied in a knot and stitched on to the side.

As much as I loved making him and the other sock moneys though, I'm really ready for this baby to come now, I'm so heavy, sore and fed up. :(

I am making a mini one today out of some old socks of my daughters, not sure how they will turn out as they are for little feet lol.

I will post pictures as soon as I have done :-)

    Natbag he looks great.

I have started buying proper toy stuffing as it is very soft, like santas beard looks!!!! I have used the wadding from duvets before and you need to cut it up very small to stop it lumping up, you also get loads of fibres flying around which wasn't good for my asthma.

If you make a tiny one, you could make it into a keyring. I've seen some on a website for sale, and it looks really good!

I have had a lot of offers for various stuffing ideas, but since I haven't even made any monkeys as of yet I'm not sure which to go for!

    - old pillows
    - polyester wadding for use in quilts pillows cushions and upholstery
    - shredded foam stuffing

Also a few suggested using old tights, slips and stockings - anyone used these for monkeys?

Will have to try that at the moment my monkey has gone wrong and I have thrown him across the room. I forgot to turn it inside out arghhhhhhhhhhhh and then my 5 year old daughter decided she wanted to nag.

Think I will have another go soon when I feel up to it.
