    Hi all,

I'm in the process of making my first monkey but I have a quick question and wondered if you could help me out?

I'm worndering how everyone sews on the monkey's mouth? I'm not talking about sewing the heel onto the face, I can do that, but how do you actually sew the line for the mouth??

    Thanks,

    Kevin
  • Ladies can I join you all, my 3 children all love their sock monkey's, (all brought from craft fairs), and being a crafty person (although not to good with sewing), will give them a go.

So of to town today to buy 3 lots of socks.

Was also wondering if to give these to the teachers as presents (they are fairly youngish female teachers).

Struggling now with ideas for the teachers.... as the kids are now in yrs 3, 5 &6 and have all had the same teachers for a few years.

How about a pot of gold, i have decided to make one for my childs teacher, there are some great ideas on here on how to make them and they shouldn't cost you too much to make three plus it's a lot less time consuming than making three monkeys, although sock monkeys are really fab.

I just do little tiny stitches to form a mouth shape then keep going back and forth until it is the shape I want and nice and thick.

    HTH.

    Hi all,

Here's the first thing I've EVER made! Reginald the sock monkey. He's a cheeky little thing, can't keep him off the pot plants!

Learned a lot making this and quite a few things I'll improve and do differently next time but im fairly pleased with him (apart from his mouth... Need to fix another way to do that!). Let me know what you think!

  • Well done kevie,he's a cutie. Loving the socks. The shape of the mouth is great, I just think you need a few more stitches to fill the gaps.
