Hi, all! I have been reading all the post and am loving all the help y'all give each other!
I really want to try my hand at a sock monkey. I have wanted one for years. lol
I bought a pair of fluffy socks from the Dollar Tree, but my sewing machine kept getting jammed. I am wondering if all fluffy socks do that or is it because that pair is a cheap pair?
I'm on my way to a store right now to look for some socks. I have been looking for a few days and can't seem to find any!0 -
Hello Tracki  and welcome.
I have made monkeys with fluffy socks you just have to be very careful and do it slowly. (Unless there is more fluff than sock:D)
Or you can hand sew them.
I would have thought there are loads of socks about just now what with it being winter. (unless you are in a different part of the world to the Uk?) Keep looking there will be some with your name on it :T0 -
Hi, I am in Louisiana. I am finding tons of cute knee high socks. I think I may buy a pair and cut them to make them shorter. But, I would like to have a pair that is the right size for my first one! I have been looking for the crew ones. Is that right? Here that is about mid calf maybe a little less. Maybe I will try again with the fluffy socks then. I really don't want to do it by hand. UGH
I went today to a couple of places and all the cute ones are the fluffy ones. I might end up having to order some online, because I am getting aggravated!!0 -
Oh right Louisiana (not that I know whereabouts in US that is!)
It's quite easy to cut down knee high socks if that's all you can find.
Most people use what we call ankle socks (ladies) they come up further than
the ankle. Sorry, never heard of crew socks. But I like to learn so will google!
You can also use childrens socks which will come out smaller of course. If you
look on my homepage you will see an assortment that I've made over the years if
you need any ideas.0 -
This thread doesn't have as much activity as it once did. I am on page 161 been reading forever! lol
A crew sock comes about mid calf. From what I am reading I think this is the size y'all are using.
I finally found 2 packs of girls crew socks today at Target. There is 2 pair per pack. I really wanted to do the womans but at least I can get started on one! I am finding tons of cute fluffly ones that in the crew size, but my machine keeps jamming on that kind. UGH
Louisiana is in the middle of the USA on the bottom, shaped like a boot.
I came home after finding my socks and had a couple of beers so I better wait until tomorrow to start on the monkey. lol0
