Ah how adorableall your monkeys are! I'm impressed :D

Imade my one and only sock monkey a couple of years back,i made it from a baby sock so it was teensy, but the girls still play with it now so it has stood the test of time lol

You have inspired me to make one for my brothers 30th but i think i need some expert advice

He is a photographer and doing his hnd just now, i wanted to do a monkey modelled on him, with glasses, a beanie hat and a camera round his neck!

I've found a keyring camera which is the perfect size, but i'm stuck on how to do the glasses and a baggy beanie hat :-s

Also haven't found the 'right' socks to use yet :p

Any ideas greatly appreciated, and hopefully this will work lol

When I made a Postman Pat from socks I used washers to make the glasses, with embroidered side legs.

A slouchy beanie shouldn't be too hard to do. Plenty of patterns on Ravelry which could be sized down.
Believe it or not, this is a hat

Or you could use fuse wire to fashion a pair of glasses.

Thanks for your replies-loving the postman pat!

I think i will try wire (never thought of that- doh) as i would prefer them to be rectangle framed

That hats very cute but ive never tried knitting in my life so thats probably not a good idea hehe

Has anyone put smellies inside their monkeys? I was thinking of a lavender bag in the bum.

My friend wants me to make her a baby one to hang in her car with something smelly inside :money:

That's a good idea to put a smelly in the monkey.

Great sock monkeys, I really want to have a go at making one. If I can manage it, it could make a couple of xmas gifts. What do you use to stuff them? Thanks.

You can get pillows quite cheaply from As*a or Tes*o and they will do quite a few monkeys, other stuffed toys or cushions.

Thanks. I bought some cheap pillows from Asda yesterday for under £3, so hopefully they'll do the job. Just need to get some cool looking socks now.
