I use new pillows for stuffing (T*sco or some other supermarket as they are usually the cherapest)and you can get a fair view monkeys out of it, and generally use either black or white thread for sewing. You can source socks from cheapo places but make sure they are'nt too thin as the stuffing will show through. Decorate how you like there are no rules and each monkey is unique!

hello all, have read lots of this thread and really fancy making a sock monkey can i ask ive looked at a couple of patterns one says you use the top of the sock as the top of the monkeys head and stuff hrough that so the legs are made from the toe end, another says the other way up with the top of the socks as the legs and you leve at gap at the top (the monkeys groin) and stuff through that then hand sew it afterwards. which is the prefered method from the more experienced monkey makers please?
