Sock monkeys!

My neighbour was impressed with the monkeys i've been making, so I made one for her new baby daughter. it's got a flower button sewn to its ear, so she won't be able to play with it until she's older - but it's OK because her mum loved it so much she probably won't get chance anyway
I'm so grateful for the sock monkey thread, I never thought I could make anything cool like that.0 -
Made my first sock monkey last night - well, kind of, he has no eyes or mouth yet! I've just bought babies socks to make mini monkeys with, they're going to sit in a cup in hot chocolate baskets I'm making for christmas - has anyone tried this? Is it really fiddly?
Also got some luggage tags so am going to write "I am Paula's sock monkey" (or whoever it's for) on the tag and then attach a Made With Love charm and tie it round their necksMy debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

they're all really nice ideas - good luck with the mini monkeys and post pictures when you're done! I imagine they would be very fiddly as I find doing the arms for normal sized ones quite difficult as it is, but i bet tiny monkeys would look adorable if you can make it work!0 -

Well I'm hoping I wont need to bother stuffing the legs or the arms as the material will probably be bulky enough, although if I do I thought a thin pipe cleaner might do the job?
I will definitely post pictures, making a start this weekend! xMy debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Ooh, a pipe cleaner is a good idea... it would make the legs and arms bendable wouldn't it...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Lovely monkey
Pipe cleaner is a fantastic idea. I am in the middle of doing baby socks, however only half way through and it is very fiddly lolRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Well I've caught the bug, and I am now making sock monkeys for almost all of my family. However, I would like to add a luggage label with the name on, and would like to add a short poem..... I have wracked my brains but can't think of anything suitable, I want something along the lines of "When you look at sock monkey it will make you smile all day" Can anybody help me please.0

Ok
Im loving these sock monkeys - i saw sethsgrans on the crafty thread and fell in love with them but being that i didnt have a sewing machine i was slightly disheartened that i couldnt make one but now im thinking i could easily hand sew one together beign that i managed an A level in textiles.
Think I am off ot have a browse round the instructions and i will be getting a nice pair of knee length socks next week to attempt with - got 3 nieces to make presents for yet and two of them want a bedtime bag each so think a sock monkey will make a nice addition for them bothTime to find me again0 -
My colleague's expecting her first baby at New Year, and as I know what others are plotting, I've changed my baby plans for her and am going to make one of these. She loves all things recycled, so it should (fingers crossed) go down wellComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0
