Thanks! I can't work out how to make them smile, apart from sewing that way - is there a knack to making the seam go in that direction? My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Hiya
I found this thread a few weeks ago and have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all your lovely monkeys,I have been itching to give making a sock monkey a go and finally got round to it yesterday,I am now hooked.
Although I have never been one for sewing ( more of a wonder web lass meself)I found it quite easy to do,I used brown thread which was very well hidden in the colour of the socks so my rubbishy bits of sewing are not easy to spot..phew.I had to raid my wardrobe for buttons and one of my summer jackets is now minus its pocket buttons but what the heck,I needed to have it finished in time for my DS to take him to bed.
This is 'Stripey' as named by my son,he is over the moon with him and has asked for more in several different colours,he also wants me to make one for the Shoebox Appeal.
Looks like I am going to have a busy time ahead of me.He who smiles rather than rages is always

I have successfully completed 2 sock monkeys - the first one isnt so good - but for a first attempt he is rather cute! He is currently sat on top of the sewing machine, giving me inspiration. The second was for my little sisters birthday - and she loved it! She didnt even realise Id made him till she was told - I think he will be a very loved monkey! I just need to crack on making them for people for xmas!0

I have been to Home Bargains today and got a great little sewing kit, well,I say little but it's quite substantial really. It's got needles,a pin cushion and lots of pins, which is great because I only had three pins left when I was making my monkey the other day...the kids use them for their pomegranites and they somehow end up disappearing
It also has 20 spools of great coloured thread and one larger black and white, also a clear one.Lots of safety pins, two needle threaders, thimble, thread pickerouta.lol(dunno what you call that),scissors, tape measure all in a silver tin with a see through top,a great bargain for £1.49 and it means all my stuff will be in one place from now on
Oh and an assortment of little buttons, also good colours.
I now just need to get some nice socks,I fancy making a little monkey too out of childrens socks but I can imagine this will be really fiddly but the ones I have seen on here are so cuteHe who smiles rather than rages is always

It is Shelley,it's great for the price,I feel like a 'proper woman' now that I have my very own sewing kit.
What's the thread like to use because some of the cheap threads aren't very good quality are they? I'm hoping it's okay, pleased you have used it already so you can tell meHe who smiles rather than rages is always
