[from a Notonthehighstreet.com seller] They look really nice and colourful.
  • thanks folks I have a list now so will need to have a go at mastering the sewing maching How I wish I had paid attention at sewing in school!

I would also like to buy sock monkeys for my Daughter & her BF, they are both Ballet dancers so would love some sort of dancing theme. I think a lot of the makers are fully booked out till Christmas (understandably), so if anyone knows where I could get these, I'd be most grateful.
I'd also like one for my 10 yr old boy, just a funky one!

  • After lurking around this thread for the past few days, I decided to make my own sock monkey!
It's almost done except it doesn't have a smile yet but I'll need to buy some embroidery thread for that.
I'll post a picture once I'm able to.
I'm now going to attempt a glove dog and bunny from the Martha Stewart link from earlier on in the thread:)
I've now decided to make my family one each for Xmas :D

  • I forgot to add that you can buy supplies in Scotland at Remnant Kings - including stuffing for £1.80 for a big bag full (size of those standard reusable supermarket bags).
Also, a good way of saving money while jazzing up the monkeys is to buy fluffy sock packs from Primark as they're wrapped with a coordinating ribbon that you can then tie around the monkey :)

My friends love my sock monkeys! Didnt think they would but now they want one themselves so they've just gone off to buy socks so I can make them one/teach them how. They said they would be thrilled to recieve one, and told me off for keeping it so quiet all this time! I am embarassed but very pleased they like them, really made my day! :) Feel better about giving them away now! what have I started?! :D

Well after reading through this thread and asking about stuffing a week or two ago let me introduceto you "MINKY" my first attempt. She got claimed by my 13yr old who doesn't want me to add any eyes!

I then mentioned to my older daughter that I'd made one and she wanted one for my granddaughter, so tonight I have made this one. I used a pair of fluffy socks and boy the mess on the floor but it looks lovely....at least I think so.
