OMG OMG OMG panic!!!! i just went to stock up on pillows from poundland and they dont do them anymore!!!! Got enough left for a few monkeys so will be searching on the net later for stuffing me thinks!!!0

Nuttybabe I can't find any pounland pillows either and haven't done for months but don't panic....got to Asda, they are £2.97 for two. That's bed pillows not cushions. They do the job great:j0

thanks meigello, didnt know asda did any. wilkinsons have them for the same price. might have to experiment with different ones to see which is best. i did see about 2 months ago that 99p stores had pillows but bit reluctant to use them as their stuff just doesnt seem quite as good quality as poundland!0

hi pink mummy.
sock monkeys do sell, more so in the run up to xmas tho.
if your looking for a quick profit there prob isn't a lot of scope due to the time involved in perfecting them ready for sale.
there are LOTS of different sock designs so all monkeys are different and many of us who sell lots have prob never made 2 the same as each others. thats because we all have our own way of personalising them to our style. I think it is that of which will sell a monkey rather than the plain no extras monkeys.
for example
some knit them hats n scarves..i dress them in hand knitted dresses/hats/ and have even made a lollipop lady one.
others give them felt noses and round off the heads.
so you can see they are all so diff.
and if you cost in the time involved they can be a slow little money earner
BUT they are so much fun to make and you must have a go0 -

Oh Chatty they are adorable :T:T I'm loving the purple stripe one
Pinkmummy I have to agree with Chatty you will never make lots of money making due to the time involved creating them but it is a lovely hobby to have. I made the mistake of taking specific orders from friends etc when really i should have made a lot up and then give them the choice of which ones to buy. In the new year I will probably do this
There are a quite a few professionals out there charging £30 plus per monkey and I have to say the quality on them is fantastic but I don't know many that would pay that locally so you would probably have to target internationally.
I love the way everyone makes them so different with hats and scarves etc ( I don't do this because I can't knit lol) and I do customise some of mine but it all takes so much time.
Good luck tho because it can be addictive but it is so much fun - I love it xLittle Miss Chatterbox

I haven't put any monkeys up for sale yet as they are for family members for christmas but...last week when my Cambridge Diet counsellor was here she asked me how much I would charge to make her a union jack monkey. After a quick think I said £15. Considering they take loads of stuffing, they are over the knee long socks and they take an average of about 4hours from start to finish....add the price of the eyes, I thought that was reasonable. But she said oh..I'll have to have a think about that! Four hours working for just under £3 an hour plus materials. Definately not a get rich quick way to earn money:rotfl:But like Shelley said, they are enjoyable to make.0
