  • I just use my fingers for stuffing lol doesnt cause any problems and seems easier than fiddling with sticks. Is there any reason you use sticks and stuff for stuffing? x

Its quicker - I make those monkeys with very long legs out of over the knee socks so its easier for me to use the end of a knitting needle to push the stuffing down to the bottom.

I use a pair a wooden spoon for stuffing, I don't know how much stuffing I've used for each monkey as I just stuffed till it's filled!
I've altered Cheeky Chappie a bit and given him a fleece hat and a nose.

  • Nope I don't weigh mine either because each sock is so different I stuff really firmly until it looks and feels right. I am making progress on the order list and seeing a light at the end of the tunnel now. Had to stop taking orders a while back because it just gets ridiculous will be eating, sleeping and dreaming monkeys otherwise lol.

I was asked to make an Ospreys rugby monkey for a little boy who is obsessed with them. I made the Ospreys logo out of felt and stitched him on his belly. His name is Jerry:

They're not exactly perfect but hopefully I'll get better as I go along! Might stick to fluffy socks as I am sewing by hand and they hide a multitude of sins!

Thanks everyone for all your ideas, keep up the sock monkeying :)

  • Hi guys a few pages back I asked about if ur selling sock monkeys do you put any instructions/safety details on them. I have come up with this. What do you think, honest feed back is needed as I'm selling some on Saturday!

Hello I am your sock Monkey, I am made of a pair of socks.
I am so excited to be going home with you. I love to watch TV and generally monkey around. Please choose a name for me and take care of me. My features are mainly hand stitched and I like to be treated with care, so I am recommended for displays or as a collector’s item. I can be gently hand washed and air dried, but it isn’t my favourite thing in the world! I have been filled with stuffing that complies with furniture and furnishings regulations 1988. However please keep me away from naked flames. I am not intended as a toy as I have a heart you know! Lots of love your Sock Monkey xxxx
