    I hate days when you plan to spend the day sewing and get so many distractions you don't get started until the evening - today was one of those days !!! Luckily my Mum helped me out as she could see I was getting stressed!! I did manage to make 2 so a little dent in the orders made :

    Pennib - he is lovely. what a cute little nose!! :D

    Susie - i got my sewing machine from lidl when they had them on offer for £60 i think. I did have one similar to the jml one (pound stretcher do ones like it) but i blew that up before finishing the first sock monkey!!!! :P

    just finished my long legged reindeer that was requested. will put a piccy up tomorrow, need sleep now!!!!

  • Some seriously gorgeous monkeys here!

    I think spidey will need his eyes closer together and nearer to the nose as it looks nicer, his are very wonky still! Can anyone confirm if craft glue will stick button to another button and then the buttons to the fabric? Cheers :D

    also how do you guys get the massive mouths? I used the toe of the sock *think I'd read somewhere its better?* but spideys isnt as big as others! should I have used the heel?

    Hi Gemzie I always use the toe and just make sure I stuff it really well and it usually turns out quite big.

    I wouldn't chance glueing the buttons on - stitching is safer. It doesn't matter if they are wonky, it all adds to his character.

    Traditionally, sock monkeys have the heel as their mouths, but you can use either the heel or the toe, whichever you feel will give the look you are after. I use both, depending on the size.
