Sock monkeys!

Morning.....Hellsbells82 I made my first sock monkey about 3 yrs ago now and it took me 9 hrs to make lol!! I had minimal sewing skills but I enjoyed every minute. You'll soon be addicted :)

Gemzie it would be an idea to get lots of cotton in different colours to match the socks you have.

shelley - he is lovely. i didnt know you could get short haired ones. it was because mine was long haired that i was allergic!! oh no, dh will go mad when i say i want one!!!!

Gemzie - i had a handheld sewing machine. it was similar to the jml one so like a mini normal machine. anyway, i blew it up!! didnt even manage to sew a leg!!!! but if you do want them i think poundstretcher has them. they did a few months ago.

hellsbells - thats all i had when i first started sewing sock monkeys!!!! :P i started by hand with the knee length ones. the kids ones werent so bad but i made one for dh and he wanted it full size. took me a week to make!!!!!

i have been asked for a long legged reindeer so need to work on her later. the knee length socks arent sparkly so need to 'bling' her up a bit! Anyway, back to my ironing as have to finish that before going up the school to help with christmas fete stuff. no rest for the wicked!!! :P

My first one with safety eyes - also used a christmas sock. Have found them hard to get as I prefer cotton socks to anything else, but am quite pleased with the result.

Hiya all,
I just wondered if anyone knows where I can get some plain red socks from? I need two pairs.. I am making my best mates dad a sock monkey with forest badges and a plain red one for my mates car..

I just did a search on Ebay and found 4 pairs of 12-3.5 size for £1.99 plus £1.49 postage - there were some others on there too. Just searched for red socks.

I have all my bits & pieces! Only got white thread though, as buoyes didnt have those packs with mini reels of different colours in. Will have to steal mum's cotton when I go home next! Going to get started now

Nuttybabe they are called exotic shorthairs. My hubby is allergic to cats initially but after a few days it tends to calm down however 8 days in and he is still snorting and eyes streaming I'm blaming the cold virus tho not poor Elvis
