Wow that is a lot of monkeys to make!!! I make 1 in an evening and 2 at a push. I have made 4 in one day but that was solid sewing all day and I was fed up by the end of it :o
I'm feeling lots of pressure I need to make loads before Xmas :(

  • I can just about manage 4 in a day, but that is without their hats, eyes etc. It has taken me all day nearly to embroider 8 hats, sew on the pompoms and I always put a little heart on my bums, so all those things take time and then photograph them and print their adoption certs. I think those extras take nearly as long as making the monkey in the first place LOL!!

Got quite a few orders at the moment, but it is virtually my sole source of income since I was made redundant last year, so can't moan about them.

Pom poms take ages!!! I'm still making a mini one after 2 days! It took me about 5 hours to make spidey monkey and he's not even finished yet. I'm going to aim to make 2/3 a week up until xmas although might be 4 if I have to. Then theres the hats and scarves... Eek!!
Guys Im going to glue on the buttons as I cant get them in the right place, I am hopeless at sewing buttons on! They are for adults as decorations mainly ie. not going to be chucked about/chewed on as a child would - will standard craft glue work to stick these to the sock fabric and will it also stick the 2 buttons together?

ETA Its my friends birthday on new years day and shes just got a new car so she will be getting one made from ankle socks with those suction cups sewn on instead of a spidey monkey. Hoping to use boxing day to produce her monkey as everyone just sits watching tv anyway :D

  • Thanks all I'm going to have a go, I'm a stay at home mum at the mo so hopefully I can just do bits here and there while the kids are playing etc, my daughter is nearly 3 and would love one :D

Is there a favourite beginners guide, or should I just take pot luck on google? I'm stupidly excited :)
Hoping to get money smart enough to avoid working full time and paying extortionate money to a stranger for the privilege of enjoying my two beautiful children for 40+hrs a week until my son is 3 and my daughter starts school in 2012 :D

Wow 200 in a month.....you would go to bed dreaming of them!
Here are some lanky leggy sockies. I used most of the socks and the left overs went on the hats.

  • Hellsbells I followed this: http://www.web-goddess.org/writing/tutorial/Image1.html Its very clear.
although I varied bits and bobs only minor things as I felt easier, like I cut the legs first and then sewed them as I prefer to use over-sew I think it is, not a running stitch. If that makes sense! :)

Thankyou- I can't even remember any stitches- it's literally 10 years since I sewed more than a button on!
