I love the fact that people can use the same socks and get completely different monkeys. Infact I can use the same socks and no matter how hard I try to get the same they will be totally different!!! lol
  • I love the little hats :) are they knitted by you pennib?

nuttybabe;Funny isnt it when you try to do them the same they come out differently!! Love all your monkeys especially
the superman one bet he is loved to death. :0)

glad we are back on track now with the monkey thread.

Sunshine; Yes i do knit them myself and they take as long (with the hat/scarf) to make as the monkey itself!!
  • Im probably not going to be liked very much for my reply, BUT. Its unfair to go on about people stealing ideas etc when there are 1000's of people out there making sock monkeys but not 1000's of differant ways to make one. So its more coincidence people ending up with the same style as someone else than pinching it! People "think" they have made their own ideas up to make their monkeys unique, chances are someone else is already doing it!

  • i've only made one
and i had enough trouble following instructions let alone copy someone elses:rotfl:

however i can see why some people get annoyed when copying is apparent, but its rife in any craft, always has been
and the net gives everyone so much opportunity to see others work now, its bound to happen

Thankfully the more I'm making the quicker it is taking me :) it took me about 7 hrs when I first started a few years back x

I managed to make another today but still not happy with my arms technique.
have just been looking through blogs, links etc & how some of you are able to get the arms to sit like shoulders (indenting I recall the term) but try as I might to form a space for the arm to sit in it always ends up looking not like I want it. Does anyone know of a tute I can read/view on getting them right?

Hope you understand my jibber jabber.

Bought some reduced socks in Asda yesterday. Some I will have to turn upside down & make due to the pattern so that's yet another obstacle.

I think a lot of it is the way the pic is taken also, I tuck their arms in for the photos but when I pick them up their arms do spring out at the side :D
