Hubby (who has no idea about how a sewing machine works, but took over when I threatened to throw it out the window) seems to have fixed it now, so I'm going to head back to the sewing machine and give it another go - fingers crossed!
You have my sympathies... I thought sewing machines were meant to make life easier?! I'll be on the valium if mine jams up one more time
There is a body and a tail, hopefully I'll be able to show you something vaguely resembling a monkey in about an hour, subject to sewing machine rage0 -
Girls you will probably still be at it at midnight (I was couldn't put it down until i finished )- it takes forever to do!!! Once you've made one though its much easier.
My friend came to visit today with her two little girls and they loved them - she emailed me tonight and asked if i would make them one each. So I guess i'll be sock monkeying again tomorrow :rotfl::rotfl:Little Miss Chatterbox

so 1 hour and 20 mins and my first complete sock monkey is ready.
I didn't stuff his tail as it is fairly plump anyway as I stitched a good way in. The ears aren't stuffed either for the same reason. The fluffy socks are very forgiving on the hand stitching thank godRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

Oh i do hope so! And midnight might be a bit optimistic at the rate I'm going
RustyFlange - You must be super talented to make a monkey so quickly. I must have been working at mine for about 5 hours now. I've only had 3 small and one major nervous breakdown so far though.... Yours is lovely and fluffy! Although I would reposition the tail for future photos so that they don't get censored0 -

Nooo not super talented, although I am quite quick with things like this. I make 3 tier nappy cakes in about 25 mins, the single small ones in a matter of minutes. Guess I am a dab hand lol. Although this is my first finished one but my first attempt was far from finished and he is now in the bin.
OH told me I should move the tail but I couldn't be bothered to mess about taking more photos so just left it lol I can see what you both mean thoughRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
OK, I'm done!
And for some reason, my monkey has something of the criminal about it... Could be because it looks like it's wearing a black wooly hat.
That's the least of its worries anyway, with one arm dislocated and the other growing out of its back :rotfl:
BTW, it's purple stripes but can't tell in this light.
A few more practices before they are gift standard I think  . I can see it becoming addictive!0
