  • OK, I'm done!

And for some reason, my monkey has something of the criminal about it... Could be because it looks like it's wearing a black wooly hat.

That's the least of its worries anyway, with one arm dislocated and the other growing out of its back :rotfl:

BTW, it's purple stripes but can't tell in this light.

A few more practices before they are gift standard I think  . I can see it becoming addictive!

Awww he is lovely! Well done! When you making the next one? I plan to do my pink one tomorrow or tuesday but depends how I get on with organising my sons party and finishing off the cupcake stand!

  • Mine's finished. Hasn't taken me too long - if I subtract the time I spent dismantling and reassembling my sewing machine, and the break I took to watch Juno.

Will upload a photo tomorrow! Night!

    xx
In a better financial position than ever before (thank you MSE!). Moved back to Scotland and now trying to keep debt-free!

    Thank you :)

I still can't believe you can make a monkey from one pair of socks, it's brilliant.

Hoping to get a new sewing machine as the one I'm using is about 35 years old and the bobbins keep getting jammed. Hopefully I can find a cheap one this week and my nerves will be able to handle making another with less tangles...

Saw your cupcake stand on the other thread, and your nappy cakes are brilliant. How on earth do you find the time, especially with kids! It was hard enough keeping the cat off my lap when I was monkeying... You're a crafty inspiration! Dopey Dora too, 8 monkeys, my god. They are really fab.

Must go to bed before I start something else!

Angie - need your advice about the ears. I would really like him to have really big round ears but i found that the material left for the ears means his ears are shaped smaller and narrower. Have you got any suggestions? I'm going to try again later

Its very clever the amount of things that can be maken with something so simple. To be honest until I stumbled in here I had never made anything in my life. Since stumbling in here I have made sock monkeys, door hangers, hampers, cards, cupcake stands, nappy cakes and loads of other things!

Good luck with the sewing machine, have you thought about asking on your local freecycle? There have been 4 offered on my local one this weekend!!! Seems no one knows what fabulous sock monkeys you can make with them ;)

Not sure how I find the time to do it all but I am a stay at home mum so I guess I have all day everyday and to be honest I sometimes get so engrossed that the housework doesn't get done until the next day :rotfl:(well I have to prioritise ;))

  • Hi guys, I am a lurker on these crafty threads as there are so many great ideas!
I am on a very limited budget this christmas as I have just moved out of my parents house for the first time, its great fun but I am learning the "real" cost of things! :rotfl:

I have 4 real bunnies so thought it would be only right if I made sock bunnies for christmas presents!
I have done the body and stitched and stuffed the arms but cant seem to position them right!!!!
Anyone have any tips so they don't go on backwards like the first arm I tried?!
Will try and get a pic to show you tomorrow.

Hi Katie, Its always hard when you first leave home ... I sometimes wish I was still little and living at home as it was so much easier :rotfl:

I think with the arms it is a case of just keep trying, maybe you could pin them on first then stitch once you look and see they look right?
