Having spent all night making another sock monkey i've realised that I followed the instructions too closely. I dont particulary like the mouth and ears that the instructions show you to make so tomorrow i'm going to try and adapt it my way. Fingers crossed I hope it works. I made this little girl up tonight xLittle Miss Chatterbox

I don't think the ears look like proper monkey ears and i've stitched the arms and tail on flat so it looks odd. This is a nightmare - I wont be happy until its perfect!!
P.s Sorry i pinched the butterfly idea from an earlier post xxLittle Miss Chatterbox

Shelley - she looks lovely. I like the colour of the socks. I am following the intructions with the tutorial given on this thread. There are nice clear photos of every stage which i found helpful. They show it done mostly by a machine but I did by hand.0

Thanks Angie, I followed the craftbits tutorial and they show you to use the heel as the mouth but I prefer a bigger mouth so I'm going to try and adapt it today and hope that works!!! I also prefer rounder monkey ears so I'll try that too!!
I bought a little sewing machine for £9.99 in Home Bargains and it does just the job. Obviously it wouldn't be much good for bigger projects etc but for this I'm finding it great.Little Miss Chatterbox

Shelley - I use these instructions http://www.web-goddess.org/writing/tutorial/Image0.html I think sharon_1970 originally posted them but very easy and clear to follow. The only thing I did different was instead of using the heel I used the toe for the nose as it had a better shape to it. I then stretched it out with stuffing to get the shape. I found the heel of the sock I used not to have enough shape.
Your little sewing machine sounds great.0 -

Yes thats what I am going to do use the toe as the nose, the heel is just not right for the nose. I will have a look at those instructions now - thanks :T:TLittle Miss Chatterbox

I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Hey all - it occurred to me that if you made a monkey with children's socks and stuffed it with charcoal instead of stuffing, he'd make a pretty horrible stuffed toy but an excellent shoe stuffer.
