I don't post on this thread (as I don't make sock monkeys) but occasionally I look, and just had to say "Fantastic"!
thanks very muchthats my son holding the mokeys - i am in the process ofmaking him a special monkey just now as he has been poorly recently. he was rushed into hospital on sunday with suspected meningitis thaksfully he didn't have it he has HSP instead. so he has requested a builder monkey and how could i refuse lol

FANTASTIC MONKEYS!!!
they are lovely, do you use google eyes on them and how do you get them to stay. i've tried the safety ones but the socks always ladder from the hole made to poke the plastic post thru and the sticky ones never seem sticky enough to stay in place
Hi angelkay. I always use the googly eyes. i have some extra strength fabric craft glue. to test it i stuck an eye on a spare sock and after an hour i pulled and pulled but it wouldn't budge. its still stuck to this day some 12 months later. i do sew eyes in cotton if the monkeys are for young children.
oh and the glue dries clear so no marks from any stray glue0 -
here's one of my latest monkeys I also had another couple of requests for certain outfit ones which i will post too - i did the last 4 with outfits as they are for gifts for my friend and her son but i kind of feel that making them with outfits to sell even if its just covering the costs is a bit like cheating. although i do think that they look ok i prefer the ones that have handmade clothes or the ones that use like the hair bands as skirts etc. what do you think? this one has a tshirt that i bought from baker ross, they had a pack of 12 in their sale for £2.40 i think but they are very small so this is just a baby monkey. lol i'm not half rambling on. oh and asda now have a pack of 4 silver fairy wands for 50p if anyone is looking for them0 -
