I just mentioned in passing to my boyfriend that I was thinking about making a sock monkey, and he demanded that I make him one, as monkeys are his favourite, so now I have no excuse :rotfl: Will have to wait til I go to town and get some socks though, don't think he'd want one of my smelly holey worn ones

Loving everyone else's efforts :) It's a great world when sock monkeys get their own thread, well done everyone :T
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important

First saw this thread a while ago and came across it again last night just as I have been wondering what to get my cousins baby for his naming ceremony... problem solved, I am going to attempt my first sock monkey! I feel quite excited!
Will embroider eyes on rather than use buttons... is there anything else i need to think of for a baby (other than sewing together well!). All my friends are having babies at the mo, this might get addictive if it goes well.
Thanks for all the photos and the inspiration! You're such a talented lot!!

Hi Fran: just be aware that as the child gets older he/she will put anything in her mouth and thatw ill make the material soggy allowing the stuffing to seep out, if you know what i mean.

you can still make one and personalise it but tell the mum to save for when she is past that stage
