    Hi there

Did not get organised in time to make monkey for cousin but started one this week and pleased with progress so far!!

I made a mistake, leaving too small a hole between legs for stuffing so there is a bit of a ladder where I have crammed in the stuffing. Was thinking of disguising the mistake with a nappy made from a white flannel with safety pin! Has anyone else done something similar? How did it work and do you have any tips? Wondering whether to put nappy on first and sew tail on to it, or sew tail to monkey and make a hole in back of nappy for tail to come through?
    thanks for your help! Fran

I absolutely love these!!! My 3 year old would love one too. Is it necessary to use a sewing machine? I've not got one but could borrow one from my mum if its essential.

I'm hand-stiching mine (just making my first one!), so far so good. I expect sewing by machine makes it lots quicker! there are a few different step-by-step guides on the early pages of this thread to give you an idea of how to make them.

Fran personally i would sew on the tail and then make a hole in the nappy to push it thru.

And you can hand stitch all the way BUT if its for a young child it would hold up to all the playing if it was mchine stitched. Plus its so much quicker if you can use a machine

Angelkay, What fabulous monkeys - I think they are the best I've seen!!!! And as for the little cutey holding them, he is just so lovely!!!

I don't post on this thread (as I don't make sock monkeys) but occasionally I look, and just had to say "Fantastic"!
