I've been a round for a bit now and as you might know I'm a BG (board guide) on a few boards but I always try to keep an eye on the OS board for hints and tips. I work full time with 18-20 staff doing techsupport (I'm the boss in case you wondered) and it takes a lot of my time, but I squeeze the BG work in there somewhere
I also have 2 cats, a dog and a fiance - all 4 of them keep me busy trying to stay on top of the household chores.
And recently I started crocheting - I am walking proof it is possible to learn crochet from a book!
I sincerely dislike my job at the moment so I'm job hunting like mad (cross your fingers) and of course I destress in my garden where intrue OS style I am growing the following this year (it's a postage stamp btw): Potatos, onions, shallots, peas, rocket, courgette (yellow ones), tomato's (3 varieties), lettuce and hopefully my chilli's will catch up and loads of herbs as always
I'm also the secretary to the trustees fo the charity in my signature so it's a wonder I have time to shower occasionally in between everythingDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Hi, I joined the site about 10 months ago but I hardly ever post. I LOVE reading all the different threads though and have got some amazing tips and recipes from here. I have decided to take the plunge and join in the May grocery challenge so I thought I would introduce myself properly.
My name is Jo, I am 38 and married to lovely hubby Steve. I have 4 daughters, oldest one is 20 and left home about 18 months ago, my other 3 are 7, 6 and 4 so I am hoping to have them around for a little while yet LOL!
I have a large hairy collie and 2 cats as well.
We all live in a beautiful part of Devon and feel very lucky to be here.
I am trying hard to be a moneysaver but have an Ebay addiction, especially to Tupperware which keeps sabotaging all my moneymaking schemes! On the plus side, all my leftovers are wonderfully sealed for freshness :rotfl:
At the moment I am a volunteer with a mental health charity working part- time as an advocate but unfortunately I don't know if I will still be doing this for much longer as my boss may be leaving. I am considering applying to CAB if this happens but it is causing me a few sleeplesss nights...hence being here at 3am!
Phew, thats about it for now at least.
Cheers Jo
P.S I chose my name as I really did EAT ALL THE PIES..I mean PASTIES of course but so far I have lost nearly 2 stone with an online diet plan, just another 10 or so to go then....sigh.0 -
Hi all,
Have been posting on here for a while now... thought I'd tell you a bit about me!
First and foremost, I am mummy to Jake, 2 yrs old. I am also a full time student, am going into my final year in Sept so have loads of dissertation type reading to do over the summer! I also work 3 days a week as a customer care manager (sounds posher than it actually is, I work for a small company where everyone is a manager of some sort lol)
I have become addicted to MSE the past few months and my home is finally beginning to show improvement (thanks to all who have helped along the way in showing me the value of OS)...
I live with my OH, DS and 2 cats in Crewe (although this is only temporary until I finish my degree). After this is done, we are thinking of moving abroad... sunshine here we come lol
I am 26 yrs old and in my spare time (what I have!) I love music (play the piano and the flute) and I also love reading - which is kinda handy when completing an English Literature degree!!
Ok, so thats me, thanks again to everyone for making me feel so welcome here - is much appreciated!

Hi! I'm new and very new to serious money saving. Have read up on simple living in the past, but books have been American, so have fouind it hard to apply things mentioned in them to my life. Have never been taught to economise, although I should have done it by default because I have a very large family but, I hate to say it, I couldn't really be bothered :embarasse We are not heavily in debt, but will be if I don't pull the reins in.
I am a stay at home mum. I had 10 children (eldest son 3rd child died 4 yrs ago in a car accident) I have 2 married daughters another son who recently moved out, but lives near by :-) at the moment I have 6 children still living at home ranging from 19 to 9. I also homeschool.
I can cook economically, but don't often keep at it. I do enjoy baking, but again I have phases of it.
It's good to see a British site. Now I can have contact with saving Brits I'm hoping I can make a go at it this time :-)0 -
Hi, my name is Lesley aka Dragon Lady.
I am 48 and don't care who knows it, what's the point in worrying about it?
I run a business partnership with my friend Angela. We have been in business now for 11 years as Painters & Decorators. Fully Qualified I might add
I am married with three children, Tom 20 [today], and atm suffering with a broken hand, [Tom that is not me], Kelsey 16, Tim 13.
I have been on MSE for about 5 months. Currently reclaiming back Bank charges, saving £2 [lots of them] :T and 20p coins. Growing lots of veggies this year thanks to Greenfingers board.
Started buying Christmas pressies in April !!
Starting to do things OS. Apart from cooking everything from scratch, can't always do it because I never know what time I'm gonna be home from work. So a mixture of both really.
We have three cats Buttercup [don't ask] 9, Elmo and ASBO 16 weeks. EVERYONE knows ASBO in our road. He wasn't called that for nothing !!
My pet hate is other drivers who think the white van driver [me] doesn't mind running into the hedge because they don't want to scratch their cars
Well, thats our lot how about yours? :beer:Proud to be dealing with my debts ONE day at a timeStopped smoking 25.05.07 - Saving £7.80 a day:j Successfully claimed bank charges of £2598.39 as of 1st June 2007:j0 -
Hi all,
I have been addicted to this site for many months and have posted when I felt I could give some advice. But I mostly just read all the posts, I log on every day and catch up with several of the forums that interest me.
I have tried to implement some of the OS tips - have bought a bread maker and am now an accomplished baker according to my OH and family and friends. Have started trying to keep up with the flylady post (this has been helped with my boss cutting my hours).
I am a 38 year old trainee accountant and work 3/5 days a week (now). I am married (2 years next week) with a 26 year old step daughter and a 5 year old grand daughter.
I look forward to continuing following the posts.

Hi all
I'm 22 and I currently work as an Administration Manager for a Mobile Phone Company - but not for too much longer - yay!!! I start a new job working as a Team Leader for pipex at the end of the month (I searched for them on this site and saw all the bad reviews about their customer service department - oh dear!!)
I currently live with my mum and boyfriend, we moved in with her in January after the sudden death of my step dad just before Christmas, but we are in the process of buying a house around the corner from my mum.
I also have to say that I LOVE this website and recommend it to everyone that I meet.

I've been a member for a few years now and I recommended this site to just about everyone I meet
Thought it was time to introduce myself as I've decided to take up the grocery challenge this month. :hello:
I'm 38, SAHM, 2 children and 2 dogs, before now I've always worked p/t around the kids, I hurt my back at the end of last year and decided to take a break from going out to work for a while, we've always had to watch the pennies but even more so now I'm not earning.
