I'm 22 years old and I really want to get serious about budgeting and not wasting my money. My boyfriend is all for it but I do all the shopping and cooking so other than him telling me off when I spend too much at the supermarket it's all down to me!
We both have student loans but neither of us is earning enough to pay them back yet so they're on the back burner until our wages go up! Other than the student loan the boyfriend is debt-free, sadly I am not. I have a bit on a credit card and an overdraft to clear, about £1100 in total and my goal is to do it by next March which I think is managable whilst affording to not feel deprived! I will add extra sooner if I've saved more. I hope to cut down enough that at the end of every month I can split what's left between paying off debt and my savings account and start the cycle again with each fresh wage!
My big thing after reducing the shopping bill (which is more making sure I'm sticking to the list than a problem with convenience foods, I like to cook!) is not buying loads of clothes and shoes which I don't need.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member #398 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T

Hi eveyone :hello:
Well this is me. Married at age 16. and to everyone who said we were to young and it would'nt last We celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary last year:j
Yep that makes me 47:eek: I have a dd age 27 and ds age 29. and a fantastic gd who will soon be 2.
Hubbies a builder and I work full time and keep house although I will soon be made redundant after 22 years. I enjoy growing my own veg and can't wait to start harvesting it. Had our first mortgage at the tender age of 19. And thankfully this is now a long distant memory.
I try to keep the family safe and dept free but my children have yet to see the light....and think the bank of mum and dad is a 24hr one.
But what the heck you can't take it with you!
Nice meeting you all.:kisses3: Everyday above ground is a bonus!!:D0 -

Hi all
only just found this thread and I have been on OS for ages. I have 5 kids from 13-35 and 3 grandchildren. I work 30-39 hours a week for not enough money. I have always been fairly OS but never very flylady. As I only get alt weekends off (sometimes) I tend to have a mass bake and clean then and just do the essentials as I go along. I am trying to get the OD below monthly wage at the moment by doing lots of overtime.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

Hi
Been loitering around here for about a year now - initially on the Freebies thread, now ventured onto other threads and began posting. I'm 47, and was raised in a very OS style by a thrifty mum, but lost my way in the over indulgent 80's. I was seduced by M&S ready meals before I had kids (when I had a good income and nothing better to spend it on!). Reigned the spending in a lot when I had my kids so that I could stop work and be at home with them, then got a job for a bank in a call centre and started to earn good money again (and back to wasteful ways with money!). Decided that I would end up dead with stress or divorced if I didnt leave my job, so got a less paid job with better hours and now work part time. Discovered MSE and its changed my life!! Now doing all the things that my mother taught me! Hopefully passing on lots of useful stuff to the kids. DD is really enthusiastic about money saving but DS not so keen. AND I dont really look like Diana Dors (ask your mother!)0 -
Been on OS for a while and only just found this thread!!!
Heres me! - Nearly the big 4:eek: , divorced, getting re-married in June.
Live with my H2b, 2 fat cats and a rabbit with over-growing teeth (he'd be cheaper in a stew:rotfl: )
On here when I should be working! (sorry boss!!)
Nice to meet you all.0 -
Hi everyone, I've been around a bit (well, since January, but lurking for a year before I finally plucked up the courage to say hello!) I'm twentyish and still a student (but really looking forward to having a proper job at some point!). I spend most of my day in a labroartory staring aimlessly at bacteria or surfing MSE when noones looking (and the bacteria are asleep)! I live with my OH and some scary looking goldfish in a small village in the middle of nowhere, which is nice. I've learnt alot from this thread and it's been lovely chatting to you all. I'm totally addicted to this site now though!:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0
