    Hello,
I'm 36, married with two DD's (9 and 6). I work part time, only 16 hours a week and term time so it fits in well with the kids, BUT doesnt seem to leave enough time to be properly OS. Im considering looking around for something with different hours which will give me more time at home, so I can garden and bake and sew more!
(Preferably at home full time, but I dont think OH would go for this one!)
We are lucky enough not to have any debt apart from the mortgage, but we have worked hard at keeping it that way. I would like to be able to save for long term things though and make better use of the money we have left once the bills have been paid. Also the baking and gardening etc really appeals to me!

Im suprised that I havent actually posted on this thread before, but Ill put myself down anyway!

Im a 25yr old recent ex-student looking for a new pad for me and boyf in the South West, which is turning out to be a nightmare. I studied law, and have no interest in the subject, so am simply looking for work where I can talk to people and at least try and be helpful, so Im primarily applying for Retail Management and Retail Banking positions. I am originally from Stoke-On-Trent, a strange place up north that no-one has ever heard of, so just so you know, its north of Birmingham, south of Manchester, right in the middle.

Aside from that, I love the internet, cooking, cleaning (yes - I am crazy!) and generally being a homemaker, so I am picking up new skills and learning on here such things as sewing, knitting and o/s ways of doing things on a budget. Long term plans probably involve getting married and buying a home, but I dont know about the kids thing, it looks painful - and I guess I would describe myself as a little too selfish to put even more people first :o  .

Oh - I am also a massive cat and dog fan, have a lovely kitty called Naiad who is the best present I have ever recieved (from Boyf!) :D , and drive an old battered green punto, with an MSE sticker in the back window ;)

    Jo xx

I'm 30, living in North Liverpool (near the sea!) with new husband and two old, annoying cats. We're currently renovating our massive old Edwardian house that we bought for a snip but which doesn't seem such a bargain now (Money Pit anyone? ). I've worked in education for 10 years, starting as a Uni researcher/lecturer, then FE, Sixth Form, then retraining as a Secondary English and Media teacher. Bonkers, obviously. I love books, film, ebay, gardening, cooking, walking - and obviously, bargain hunting! Don't plan on any kids as I have to put up with other people's all day  but tropical fish are looking like a distinct possibility...

Hi, I've been surfing this site for a few months now, but only posted a couple of times. I think you guys are absolutely brilliant, with so many great ideas that I'd never thought of, as well as some I had but not yet put into action. I'm beginning to realise that Money Saving is something that you are constantly getting better and better at - there are always more ways to save. I've read many posts on here, especially from newbies, saying 'I don't think we can cut back anymore'... but, you CAN!

    Anyhow, I digress.

I'm 31, live with OH in the East Midlands, work FT. No kids yet but plan to start trying around December time. I love the outdoors - running, hiking and camping in local Derbyshire, and we are currently in the middle of doing up our new home (OH is a painter and Decorator - very handy!). I need to becoe better and being OS cos we have a big mortgage. I currently grow chives and strawberries in the garden but aim to expand on that. I am developing my cooking skills (until recently we existed a tuna and pasta diet) and OH loves my oat and raisin cookies! :T

    Hello

I have been lurking on MSE for a little while now- but why didn't I see the OS board until last week??? I LOVE IT! Seriously addictive and I'm actually getting really excited about doing next months' grocery and pin money challenges :):)

I'm 29, married with a baby boy and having to go back to work full time in five weeks. I'm a Procurement Specialist for a utility company.

One reason for money saving is to try and reduce my outgoings enough to be able to put more money into paying off my debts - then hopefully I can take a cut in hours at work to be with my beautiful little boy. Makes my heart feel a bit funny and achey when I think about not being able to spend the week with him.

Another reason for doing it is cos it's so much fun!

Hi everyone, I've known about this website for about 2 years now but was never brave enough to post - this is briliant.
I'm 28, have the most wonderful daughter and equally brilliant hubby. He has just landed a really good job so I can't wait for his first salary so we can pay off even more of our c/c debt. (Before you ask, the c/c debt only mounted when my hubby lost his job while I was on maternity leave and we had no money coming in).
Unfortunatelly I have to work full time even though I would love to stay at home with my daughter.
I was born in Slovakia (former Czechoslovakia) and we weren't that well off so being thriftly comes quite naturally to me. I always cook from sratch, love sewing, cross stitch and anything "arty" (when I get the time). I found lots and lots of great advice on this site and will keep on reading all the forums - it's very very addictive.
It's best to regret things you have done rather than those you have not...
