I work full time as a broadcast journalist. I no longer have internet at home, since splitting with my long term boyfriend earlier this year so make use of it here;)
I'm only 21 and have been in this job for 4 and half years now. I live with my mum, nan and dog(!) as I can't afford to buy my own place yet.
I lost my Dad last year so have spent the last few months trying to get my head in order, especially as I watched him passing away in excrutiating painComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
I own a wool shop in North Lincolnshire, with my hubbyEdward, and my 6 month old daughter Alyx (currently sitting in her high chair bashing a toy piano, and gurgling along).
I'm 24, and am trying to save our little family money so we can move abroad - florida is my fave, whereas hubby fancies Scandinavia. Hmm, I can see we're going to have a problem here! We've already downsized our home, cut out unnecceasary spending, but we have just had a 10k loan to buy a car, pay some business bills and to pay some council tax arrears. It was meant for the deposit on a house, but that all fell through, so we're getting the things we need instead. Thankfully this 10k is the only debt we have, so I'm not overly worried, although I am looking into transferrign it to a lower interest rate loan provider, and paying it off quicker.0 -
Hi, I am a relatively new, but now addicted, visitor to Moneysaving.
I am a not-so-young Yorkshire lass (actually a 58 year old step-great grandma who hasn't quite grown up yet!).
I am happily retired and my husband is semi-retired. We are in the fortunate position :j of having no debts and having paid off the mortgage a few years ago.
Coming from a working class background I have always known we should watch the pennies and I think this site provides us all with some brilliant advice.
I enjoy reading, cross stitching and gardening. Today I have collected lots of beans for the freezer plus blackberries for tonight's pudding.
I enjoy reading the threads - how helpful you all are to each other. :T I will try to add my contributions in the future.
Have a great weekend everybody

I am also a tap dancer(hence taplady).Decided to rethink our lifestyle  and health after my OH had a heart attack and a triple byepass last year !fully recovered now!Do what you love :happyhear0 -
I work in the music industry. Just got married and over spent on the honeymoon (although it was worth every penny!). My DH is self-employed and up until then we had been very good and saved enough in the tax account. However had had to dip into this a bit recently so need to get it back up to an acceptable level.
We are still young, 26, and want to get into good financial habits. I have an overdraft of £2000 and we owe DH's parents £3500 from wedding & honeymoon (thankfully interest free!).
No kids or animals yet, but we do live in London where everything is shockingly expensive!Anna :beer:0 -
I am a primary school teacher at a school in West London. I managed to buy a flat through a shared ownership scheme a year ago. Unfortunately it is not in such a great area. I love dance and do all kinds from belly dancing to salsa!
My big decision this year is whether to leave London to go to a place where i can have a better quality of life for cheaper, or to stay here for a while longer. Newly single and 30 last year, I am just a bit confused about the future! O yes, and although i love my job I harbour ambitions to become a midwife ."Out of the frying pan into the fire!" Couldn't afford it either! Still have £500 OD, £3700 carloan, £1000 credit card to pay off.
Have loved reading the OS so far, it has been entertaining!0 -
I've never got round to adding my details on here before.
I'm just finishing my Masters degree at the moment. Trying to finish my dissertation but it is hard going! Far too many distractions, not least this site.
I am also mum to a little boy who is nearly three. Where did my little baby go?
I go back to work in October, but luckily, with the increase in wages, government funding towards nursery fees and advice from this site, I can afford to go back three days a week, rather than full-time. :j0 -
