Change in my life.
It's now just me, and has been for a good couple of weeks.
I'm 27, in my second year of uni doing an English and Film degree, and I'm here to live more like how my mum did when I was little and I'd help with the spuds or the veggies. She taught me to cook and I try to carry it on.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

I'm a long time lurker and occasional poster but thought I'd say hello properly! I am married with an 18 month old boy and number 2 on the way. I work two mornings a week as a church administrator and the rest of the time spent chasing after a very cheeky toddler and trying to impose some semblance of order on the house. Not always very successfully! Am about to embark on a big declutter before the new baby arrives in the summer so will be looking to you guys for inspiration! x0

Hi, all - have lurked here occasionally but now employment circumstances have changed I may need all the advice and tips I can get!
I worked in a Library for the last eleven years (and another six years for the same local authority in schools as a TA) but was getting hacked off with the (non) management system so the OH said to quit and we'd make ends meet (with a fair amount of belt-tightening) - anything to save my sanity!
Well, for once the 'toast landed buttered side up' when the County Council announced stringent budget cuts and offerred early retirement - my hand went up SO fast!
Anyway, now I'm more or less a lady of leisure I'm keen to accquire any money saving tips, as the finances are a wee bit reduced now (but my sanity is intact, thank goodness!!)
And I may have a few ideas to impart, too.....
Cheers, chaps

*knocks on thread door, tentatively pushes it open and pokes head in* Hello!
I'm a 23 year old communications assistant for the NHS, but my contract here is finishing at the end of March and I'm moving down to London to live with my OH the first weekend in April. I've been living at home since coming back from university in summer 2009 so this will be my first time properly being 'the lady of the house' so to speak (although I should add my OH is a very willing and able cook and cleaner!). I'm also aware that this 'grown up' lark will take a huge cut of my money in the normal boring things like rent, bills, getting to work etc so any other ways I can save are bound to be useful!
I've got a little bit of OS experience from my student days where I was very 'cook everything from scratch, batch cook, meal plans etc' but since moving back home I've fallen off the wagon due to not really having those responsibilities so I'm kind of starting from scratch.
The main things for me are probably going to be groceries - I'm budgeting £50 a week to feed two of us but am hoping to get it closer to £30-40, which may be difficult as I am the type who goes to the supermarket with a list of stuff to make meals for the week and then doesn't go apart from top-ups, whereas my boyfriend tends to buy stuff to make that night's dinner as he's going past the shop (our flat is ten minutes' walk away from a huge Tesco and there's also a pretty good local market at weekends) - and cleaning, because I tend to let everything build up and do it all in one go when I know dedicating half an hour to keeping on top of things will be so much easier!"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -

Hi everyone.
A quick intro from me. I'm in my 30's, single and work full time. As I can only depend on myself, I'm always looking at ways to save money. I need to have savings, as my salary varies month to month - sometimes by as much as £600
I love my slow cooker, although I've made a few mistakes in it :rotfl:
Looking forward to gaining more OS knowledge and hopefully I can share some of my tips as well.
Thanks for reading. Take care.
BR, LbhwCall me what you like, I was a bit "tiddly" when I chose my username
