Ive used this site for years for advice and support, ive lost the way quite a few times but now, im hopefully back on track!!!!
Im decluttering big time and aim to have cleaner tidy home by end of 2011.
I make jewllery and use the funds to pay for my childrens hobbies as my dd goes to dancing and swimming she also goes to brownies and im training to be a leader with them, my son plays football and goes to scouts which my husband helps with too
so as you can imagine life is pretty hectic around here, so the more we save the better as we can enjoy our free time more then!:A :j0 -
Hi everyone, I'm also a long time lurker who has decided to get more involved.I think I feel more at home here seems much friendlier than some of the other areas on the forum.
I work part time in a hospital which I love(most of the time) and fingers crossed my job is relatively safe at the moment. This is good as my husband is not working at the moment , he's desperately trying to get back into teaching. This is not easy as although he is a good teacher i think his age is going against him- cheaper to employ newly qualified teachers! So I really do need to try to watch what we spend. I'm trying the GC for the first time and also looking at other ways to save money- stopped using tumble drier, not having central heating on for so long, sharing baths etc. Do you think you can ever get to a point where you can't save any more or are there always things you can do no matter how small?
Thanks for all the inspiration.0 -
Hello
I'm a long time lurker, single, working professional.
I stumbled on MSE a few years ago and it pretty much changed my outlook in life. I didn't land here massively in debt or struggling to make ends meet but it prompted me to actually look at my finances. What I saw horrified me - not the lack of money but the amount of disposable income I had and the little I had to show for it other than a wardrobe of clothes, a hangover, a fridge full of expensive and mouldy food and a pile of empty wine bottles.
So now I have savings (recently not so much after a few things needed doing on the house but at least it didn't have to go on the card), I don't bother going out partying unless I actually want to go out, enjoy doing things that don't cost a lot and save money for the great experiences in life. I'm a bit of a foodie but I've learnt that whilst there are some things which are to me worth spending money on (I'd cry if you took my Belazu balsamic away) I can enjoy great food without rinsing money on what the supermarkets want you to buy.
I can honestly say that my quality of life is better for finding MSE. The savings take the stress out of worrying if things go wrong on the house/car and I can now afford to go on great holidays and pay for things that I wouldn't have had the money for. All I've done is stop spending money on the things that didn't mean much to me.
So its a hello and thanks everyone kinda post0 -
Hello everyone
long time lurker never joined anything online before but you all seem so nice and friendly I thought it was time to come out into the open.
Such a good site and I'm really looking forward to getting involved.
About me....Work part time as a checkout operator at a big supermarket and enjoy it most of the time. Can be a bit frustrating though when it's whoopsie time and everyone is coming through with terrific bargains. Before you ask - no priority for us we have to take our chances along with everyone else. Only fair really and next best to me getting a good deal is seeing someone else doing it.
Just me and partner at home now but DD lives just down the way and some days she and DGD are here so much you'd think she'd never left home!
Oh yes and a snore just reminded me that we also have a dog.
Look forward to getting to know you0 -
Welcome all....this is a lovely comfy place to be

Hi all
I'm a lone SAHM (my son is 5) and I'm studying with the OU for a degree in Social Sciences which I should finish by summer 2012. We have 2 cats, a goldfish and 3 weather loaches!
I have been OS since my son started weaning with regards to cooking from scratch and growing a bit of my own fruit and veg. I do it mostly because I like the lifestyle and healthy eating aspects but also for money saving reasons as we're on a budget (which I suspect will become very tight pretty soon, what with all the economy/budget changes in progress!)
Nice to 'meet' everyone

Hi - I work part time as a cook and have 3 children and husband to keep me busy. I have lurked on here for a while and love it, so have decided to join in with a few challenges along the way.
I need to cut the budget big time, pay off a few debts and save up for a trip to London in September.0 -
