  • Septembergirl - I've worked in a few call centres - I'm nice too. Welcome. Single mum of 3, working and evening classes - you are a brilliant for coping with all of that.:)

Thanks Alison. That means a lot to me! I feel good for getting it all done. Working since my youngest son started full time school 4 years ago has really boosted my confidence and TBH my kids are no bother. I figured I can't stay in a call centre forever though and would love to do something that gives back. My eldest son has SEN and his highschool have been great right from the start. His SENCO for the school is my tutor so it's worked out pretty nicely and I'm really enjoying it.

It's nice to see some friendly faces on the boards!

    Hi there,

Thought I should introduce myself as well! Have been lurking for a while and have got some great tips... loving the cheap meals thread.

In our house there is me, OH, our 19 month old son and one cat (our lovely Oscar!). I also have 2 stepdaughters (6 and 9) who visit every other weekend. I work part time as a social worker (18.5 hours a week), started job in November 2010 after studying for two years... strange thing is that we were better off when I was studying! OH runs his own company although this is still in starting phase so his income is quite small. Hence we are on a fairly tight budget.

I have budgeted £50 a week (was doing £100 per week last year cripes!!!) and am doing quite well in sticking to this. Try to buy organic where we can.

Looking forward to getting to know you and to sharing some great tips. I already know lots about rubber roast meat lol.

    Hi Cazza1,

Welcome in, lots of people lurk first, to see what happens where.

Well we are all a bit mad, some are worse than others.

You'll be fine, there is plenty of stuff to share and comment on, have fun.

  • Hi All, really lovely to read (not all, sorry) about some of you :) I'm a newbie but have been posting on threads before my formal introduction.

I live alone with my beautiful daughter who is 7 and I work full time. I joke that my daughter is a victorian child (her days are longer than mine, at school for 8 and then I pick up at 6) so instilling OS ways can be tricky at times as convenience will win on occasion! Currently work in Local Authority which is seeing some change right now and I remain optimistic that all will work out after we get past this difficult year.

Love making things but suffer from a short attention span and as a result have been knitting the same scarf for three years now ;) Really loving this forum and getting to read some of the interesting, helpful and absolute hilarious comments! Such a sense of support aswell.

Looking forward to reading/writing lots more.

  • Hello

I'm a stay at home mummy to a gorgeous one year old girl. I've read this site for a long time, and put into practice much of what I've read on here but haven't contributed. So thought it was about time I did. I'm trying to find ways for our money to go further so that we can have a bit of a life.

    xx
  • Hello all

Long time lurker of your lovely board. Having a new start (well, since September!) when I was made redundant, moved house, kicked out the Ex and got a new dog. Well, I swapped one grumpy old man for another...

I love my new job, my tiny bungalow (rented), knitting, and above all my 2 rescue dogs. Which doesn't leave much room in life for much else!

Slowly converting to OS ways, learning to cook, bake and budget better, and enjoying sharing the stories and experiences.

    Thanks for having me,

    Hi everyone

I've been lurking for a while but this is my first post

Have picked up some really great tips (saved £100 on my car insurance renewal :j) and DH is enjoying some of the new recipes I've been trying.

I think I will be joining some of the threads - flylady, decluttering and MFW are the three that spring to mind.

Family is me, DH, geriatric dog and a cat with "cattitude"

Hope to 'meet' you guys around the forum
