Ive started the grocery challenge, and the £1 a day challenge also and im hoping that I will find lots of ways to save money on here..in theory we are saving to buy a house but where we are house prices are so expensive we need such a bit deposit and unless something serious changes I just dont see how we will ever get there!

Anyway, enough rambling lol, im looking forward to chatting to you all! :-)

I ams Sarah, 30, i'm a part time working mum with 2 children (6 and 1) my other half works full time and I work in a pub . I sell on eBay and grow my own veg!! About to move into a much bigger house so hoping to adopt the 'mend an make do' attitude and also plan a wedding without spending a fortune! I also need to sort out my grocery shopping habits as I am sure I spend way too much on them and don't get the most from what I buy. Look forward to talking to you :-)

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hello there,
I'm a part time working mum of an active toddler in a job I hate. My DH works in retail managment so earns most of the crust. I have just started MSing and am constantly trying to find new ways to save and make money. We are trying for another baby atm so need to save every penny we can for when I finish work.

It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world
  • First post, so seems like a good place to start. Am 24, live with my girlfriend in St. Albans (she uses the site too) currently we dont have large amounts of debt bar small overdrafts and having financed a small % of our car. Currently we are saving for a house deposit, but living in one of the top 5 areas of the uk for house prices as first time buyers, it's far easier said than done. We're looking for ways to keep our expenditure down so we can save as much as possible whilst still having enough disposable income to be able to enjoy ourselves. Hi! :)
  • Im married, pregnant with 2 gorgeous children but sadly at the moment our outgoings are more than our incomings.

Looking forward to getting tips and advice from you guys x

i'm not a newbie so much anymore but nevermind

i'm lou. i'm 28 married to alan. we have our ds who is 21months. alan works fulltime to provide for us all.

pre-pregnancy i was a deputy manager of a day nursery. i had every intention of going back full time and taking my ds with me but things didnt go to plan. my manager (also was very good friend) turned out to be a complusive liar who made life hell for a few months until i handed in my notice.

havent worked since. instead working on my mental health, trying to get it back to some sort of normalilty - whatever that is!! i can be a grumpy mare at times so ignore any stroppy/ woe is me type posts :o

slowly getting the hang of OS way of life... just need to train alan now :rotfl:

spend most of my time on here :o or on fb. nothing really exciting!

  • Hello all, I've been lurking for a few months but only really getting into OS living since late December.

I'm 26, married and have two daughters - a five year old and a two year old, both of whom are constantly trying to destroy my Flying efforts! I'm currently a SAHM, and have finally, thankfully, found some inspiration from you lovely lot to be an ACTUAL housewife as well :rotfl:

I've been doing meal plans, bulk cooking and following the Flylady thread as well as trying to save money through NSDs and store cupboard challenges and really enjoying it all :)

I'm also hoping to start selling of some of our old unwanted things through ebay and carboot sales - I've been a bit wary, but after reading about all of your endeavours I'm going to have to try!

Nice to meet you all, and thanks for being such a friendly bunch :T
