  • I work part time as I have a wee boy. Starting a history degree in february through the OU as I finally realised that I need to gain the qualifications to work in an industry im interested in. And since history is my favourite thing in the world and I study it in my own time anyway, its not gonna feel like studying perse.

  • Hi, I have been receiving emails from money saving expert for a while but have not registered for the forum. I am 45 and have had M.E. for the past 16 years. I have lived with my parents and they have been fantastic but my mum passed away three weeks ago, my dad's health is not the greatest ( he is 80) and I find myself trying to keep things going the best I can, so I will be on the forums looking for tips.
  • Hi, I am a long timer lurker and occasional poster but this website has done so much for me. I am about to embark on a whole new chapter in my life, having just given up my much loved job of 9 years to be a full time carer for my son who is very poorly with Crohn's Disease.

We intend to live on OHs fairly low salary supplemented by benefits for the next year or so. This is a really scary prospect as I have worked and earned my own money since I was 16 years old. I just know that right now I cant care for my son properly and work as well.

Its a journey into the unknown - and I know that I am going to need this website more than ever over the coming months.

On the plus side - I love cooking, baking and home-making. I have a lovely OH and another son who help to keep me sane when things get tough. I have learned not to value material things and have lots of tricks up my sleeve to make the pennies go a bit further.

Hi, thought i would pop in and introduce myself since i have been posting on and off now. Im 37 but sometimes feel 19 or 90 depending on my mood/health. I am married but currently seperated (trying to get back on an even keel) & OH wants to come back soon. I have spent the last 15 years of my life working/raising children and not bothering about money/cooking or home life/social life/friends etc, very nievely tbh, OH had control of everything and i have spent the last 6 months trying to stand on my own feet and start from scratch. I am winning though :) everyday i learn something new which is fantastic, and my kids are loving the 'new' me and the fact that they dont phone out for food every night (they cant - no take away deliviries since we moved lol). I dont work now due to location and a few different medical conditions so currently rely on benefits & DLA to survive financially. I have 3 children, 17,12,11 - for the most they are a godsend but they do have their scary moments also ;) Any way that a little bit about me, and im hoping to get to know you all better. Thanks for the great advice- without it i would proberly have starved!

That sounds really tough...................this is definitely the right place to come not only for hints and tips but the most fantastic support that can make such a difference.
