Joined MSE to ask about something else but found myself drawn to reading OS, a lot.
Read the last 10 pages of this thread. consider myself lucky to some of the stories I've read. Reading them helps me make the most of what I've got rather than dwelling.
There's me, the wife and a 2yo, I work, the missus is a SAHM. We're doing ok, no debt and renting a house after selling our flat that was too small for us. We're pretty good with money but always on the lookout for tips and advice. Probably cooking (slow cooker, preserving, maximising our magimix), organising and some home grown produce (couldn't do that in a flat) to start with.
Although I have a small confession, I originally joined to ask about a New York trip which is not very OS, is it?
Just a little intimidated by some of the threads at the moment. You find a thread topic you're interestd in only to see there's 1500 posts to read! I don't know where to start.:rotfl:
Happy savings folksI spend less than I earn and if I can't afford it I don't buy it. I'm guessing that makes me a money saver.0 -
Hello all
I'm princesscupcake and I'm a spendaholic! (and cupcake making addict!)
I lurked around the site for ages and have been picking up loads of OS tips. I've decided to bite the bullet and join up as it seems that everyone gives fantastic advice and support and the OS thread especially seems to suit my way of doing things
I've just posted on the DFW thread how I'm planning to get my debt down and reckon that lots of Old Style is going to help me do it!
I'm married with no children and DH and I are in the process of buying a new house and selling our flat so money saving is even more important now!
Nice to meet you all and I think I may go and get myself involved in some flyladying cos my goodness do I need some help there!

Welcome all
Even if you don't need to watch the pennies right now it's well worth getting OS for every other reason!
I didn't really introduce myself here, just suddenly appeared harping on about lidl! I'm a 20 year old maths student originally from Birmingham, and whilst I'd love to keep chickens or an allotment, it's not really feasible in my rented london flatSo for now I'm attempting to grow spinach indoors! I cook everything from scratch, budget like i've never budgeted before and have developed an allergy to paying full price for anything, ahh the things you can learn from this board

Hello all. I've lurked a bit (don't be scared though, not in a creepy way) - but this is my first post. What a proud moment!
I understand that the Old Style board is where all the coolest kids hang out? My wife's on here all the time, picking up tips and sharing her ideas. So I've decided to try treading the fine line that sits between sharing in her interests and cramping her style. I suppose time will tell whether or not that's a good idea. But, for now, I plan to be mysteriously distant with my personal details - that way I can see if she guesses I'm on here before I confess!0
