Squiggly - how absolutely dreadful. His family and all his friends must be devestated.

I can't even begin to imagine how his mum must be feeling - I am sure I would feel as if my heart had been ripped out.

The kids are all mainly at my house, he was one of the group of her closest friends, usually always hanging around here. So they are here, plus several others, all just a bit shocked & stunned. DD says she doesn't quite know what to think or feel. Those friends who have been told over the phone haven't belived it until they were told in person.

    Evening All

Squiggley - hope your DD's ok

Been enjoying my first day off in two weeks. Not getting up at 4am for the first time in 15 days was wonderful. I didn't get out of bed till gone 10am:D

Was out at a wedding reception last night, which was lovely. A few nice nibbles and some drinks with friends was just what I needed.

Spent the day pottering round, doing a few bits for my extra jobs. Was going to go to a free festival in the next town, but owing to the horrible weather, we decided not to go.

Mum's cooked a ham. We've decided it's cheaper to buy a piece of gammon and cook it ourselves, rather than buy in sliced ham for sandwiches. Mum's also made a barmbrack (tea bread).

Having salad for dinner, which will be a nice end to the day.Really need to dig out my recipe for jamalya (sp) so I can put my chorizo from last weekend's international market to good use.

    Hope everyone's ok

  • Thanks Guys!

I shouldnt have really posted about it, but Im so annoyed and frustrated about it. I know she is a big girl, but she's just out of her 2nd marriage and shes only 31. My main concern is the 2 kids.

    I'll get over it.

Squiggly - sorry to hear such sad news. (((hugs))) to your DD

(((hugs))) to others who are having a tough time.

    Welcome to new friends smile.gif

Well I had a l o n g sleep and didn't finally surface until 11am We went out last night to celebrate DSS's 17th which was last week and I had 3, ok maybe 4 glasses of wine and felt hungover first thing speechless-smiley-040.gif. I got up to see to the dogs then ate a banana, made a drink with some salt and sugar in water (tried the old tin of Andrews but it was all stiff so threw it outspeechless-smiley-040.gif) and then had sweet tea. I was just so thirsty. Went back to bed and slept and was fine after that.
Went to a country show and enjoyed watching gun dog displays and then seeing all the livestock. Best in show went to a beautiful Welsh yearling, with a pig (not sure of breed peeps!) coming a close 2nd. Really enjoyed myself. The shire horses were beautiful and so well turned out. Real gentle giants. We enjoyed watching the young sheep handlers. These kids were about 5 years old and decked out in their white coats. They were so good too! One hid her face in her mum's white coat and cried because she came 2nd. They were such little tots!

Bought some veg at a garden stall on the way home including tiny salad potatoes which look fab. I also bought a marrow. Well, you know, I THINK it is a marrow but it's not a green stripey one but is yellow and fatter and more 'squat'. They were in amongst ordinary marrows. Do I cook it normally like a marrow? I'm also thinking of sending DH back to get more later this week and then I'll make chutney. He's not keen to be seen buying marrows at the side of a busy road but he passes it on his way to work. I'll have to work on him.

Looking forward to Miss Marple at 8. Will force DH to snuggle on settee with me and have a cup of tea.

Hope everyone has a peaceful evening.

We trekked all over Ikea and came back with one rug and some decorative candles!

We do at least now know what we do not want which is progress I suppose.

Have just got back and cooked tea so sitting here now as I am shattered.

The more you try to make her "see" the more she will shut her eyes and ears to you and then when she needs you she will not tell you as you were proved right.

Save your strength for your own battles - it sounds selfish but you need to look after yourself first.

Suppose it would be mean to suggest a "paid escort" would be cheaper?;)

Going to have a cup of coffee to wake myself up - hugs to all.

    Afternoon all

Squiggly - your poor daughter. Best thing though that they all congregate and let all the hurt out together

Weather has been miserable, windy and wet today. Managed to just about dry a load of washing before it started to rain again. We have been sorting out all our paperwork that we keep in a diddy filing cabinet. Loads of old mortgage stuff, bills, pension updates etc etc have been shredded. The poor shredder didn't sound too healthy after we had finished!!

Had roast lamb for dinner . Have made some hobnobs. Done a pile of ironing too.

Am now settled in front of tele with the laptop, and hubby is watching some obscure film. How can he just turn onto a film that has already started. without seeing what it's about and watching it to the bitter end:confused:

Enjoy whats left of Sunday peeps

Squiggly, your poor daughter and her friends and his parents they must be devastated and keep doing the 'what if'
Pen-Pin, if it was just your sister on her own, we would all say she's a big girl, etc etc....but she has young children and they must be so confused by all of this. Please don't bottle up your feelings, let them out on here, even if you assume another identity for stress busting purposes ;) What does your mum think of all of this?
Floss, yes that's me. :D I want that room for my bedroom, but at the moment, we only live downstairs.
