OS Daily Sunday 3rd of August
Sunnyday
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday August 3rd. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning peeps
It`s just starting to get light outside so i can`t really tell what the weather will be like but i hope that it`s nice and sunny today especially as i have the washing machine on
I woke at 4am on the sofa and decided as it was cheap rate electricity rather than go to bed i would make use of it. In the oven there is a joint of pork and a pork hock, there was also some bacon and as i started typing this i remembered and ran in to rescue it - a bit well done but just caught it in time.
Tha laptop is on and charging up for later, the mobile phones are both charging and the bm and dw are both on too lol the light on the meter s going barmy.
I`ve not quite finished catching up with yesterday yet but i will shortly, most of yesterday was spent putting up a curtain pole in the bay and it was a job that i never want to repeat, it took about 5 hours on and off, made a huge mess and there isn`t enough room for the finials.
I`ll either have to get some extenders to move the pole further from the wall or search for some tiny ones but i really like the ones we already have, can`t you tell this is the first bay window we`ve had!
Frugal swan - do you still have the lentils?
Maybe you could hide them in something like shepherds pie or bolognaise sauce in smallish amounts until they are all used up.
I can see that it`s almost properly light outside now so i`m off down the garden with the bacon rind for the birdies.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

WELCOME MONEYSAVING DIVA.
HUGS to all who need one today, Smokey hope you are having a good weekend.
Took me ages to get off to sleep last night. Off to work in a mo, a bit grey here at the minute and it's supposed to rain today. Roast chicken for dinner.
Have a good day all.

Good morning Sunnyday, Jannyannie and all who follow.
Woke up at 6.00 and couldn't get back to sleep so here I am. Think I will head off to the gym shortly but I have to check the opening times first. Need to take a couple of dvds back to Blockbuster too.
Watched "No Country For Old Men" last night. Quite enjoyed it but the ending wasn't quite good enough for me.
Watched "27 dresses" on Friday night and it was exactly what I expected - a chick flick. So, no culture this weekend in the booklover household.
My Mum is coming to visit me today with my DSis so I need to make sure the house is spic and span as my mum will get her sleeves rolled up and start if I don't. Have some turkey steaks in the fridge so just have to decide how I'm going to cook them and what will accompany them.
Have a sunny Sunday. Haven't read the rest of yesterday's post so (((hugs))) to all in need and :j to those with something to celebrate. xx"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

Morning all,
Got back from visiting my Mum, she's doing ok and hosp is the best place for her ATM. She is having cold tar baths twice a day and plenty of care.
DH managed to survive on contents of freezer, neighbour gave loads of veg to us so will do a roast beef (half price at Morries ) for dinner, tis in the oven on low. He mowed the lawn, washed the car, took garden rubish to tip and did washing, me thinks he tried to keep busy, must go away more often.
Will sort out clothes for our 4 day break in Plymouth, we're off on Tues and staying at the Grovener Hotel, anyone know it?
Haven't caught up since Thurs so off to read up.0 -
Good Morning All
Woke up with a headache - have taken some tablets and now drinking my tea and hope that clears it. If not think will bung some tracky bottoms on and take the dog for an early walk.
Loved Mama Mia yesterday, OH didnt but never mind. Meal was very nice too. Am meeting inlaws for lunch today which I hope goes well but am not looking forward to it.
Housework this morning, also more washing but really not sure what the weather is doing.
Have a great Sunday.

Morning one and all.
It's a grey start to my last day in Dorset. Yep, it's finally here :j :j :j The trailer is all loaded and ready so all I have to do is hitch up and tidy the motorhome and then I'm off up north to start a new chapter in life. I admit to being incredibly excited about the new start but I'm not sure how I should feel about leaving here. Even though it's possibly been the worst 4 years of my life and I have no happy memories to take with me, it's been "home" so I guess I feel a tiny bit sad.
However, the future is waiting for me in Yorkshire and it's yet to be made.....I think Mr Springsteel summed it up when he sang "...big wheels roll through fields where sunlight streams, meet me in a land of hope and dreams"
Take care all and have a safe day.
Man try

 Morning All
Still operating on Demolition Derby, and surprisingly enough like H-J we are still married - just  , ours is the eternal optimist (me) with the eternal pessimist. Though it is not over the demolition, after discussing this for several months, drawing up plans, talking to the builder, organising his time (he is due Tuesday lunch time), ordering the ensuite parts and paying for them, he his now questioning how we will get everything in, etc., etc., etc.,

In the end I went back to the old one, of I have designed 3 alterations to the house and we have put them into place and they worked, re-designed both the kitchen and the bathroom, and they worked too, together with the bedroom we have just done, so why are you worrying that this almost last bit will not work
    :A
We have moved into the double bed in the spare or DS's room after many years in a King, so a good job we are still friends;) .
Jayward btw is not suffering from the shopping trip, but having PC problems and it is close to picking its pane. Though calling it a shopping trip is a little twisting of it, as most of it was window shopping, and we spend less than £10 each excluding lunch. Next time we will plan with more time and see if there anyone else who wants to join us but 48 hours from idea to reality is not enough to organise a meet.
Well just going to have brekky and back to the demolition, someone from Freecycle is coming at 12, and he is going to flat pack the complete units for transportation, so is helping us. Hope my back lasts out, standing long periods is not my favourite occupation.
(((hugs))) and  to all. Take care DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -

Morning.
All quiet in the Twit household so far, plans for today...
Sort out my washing and take it to the launderette. It's my Aunt's shop and mum will be there getting a head start on the service washes for tomorrow (aunt & uncle are away for a few days) so, I'll lend a hand and get mine done at the same time
Mr Twit had already eaten by the time he got home yesterday, so the steak and the bits pieces that I had prepped for tea will be eaten today, so that's sorted.
Benthos, have a safe trip oop norf and I hope that life becomes more pleasant and settled for you.
Donny, so pleased that you & Jayward had fun.
Hugs to the needy.
Love to all The Twit. :grouphug:Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
