If I switch away from British Gas can I keep the HomeCare / Maintenance that I have with them? Or do I have to source my servicing and emergency repairs elsewhere?
Apologies if this has already been asked elsewhere, but I can't find it!
Thanks
Slug
The homecare plan is run separately from your utilities, so you can carry on evern if BG aren't supplying you with gas or elec.
Me knows this as my sister has done this for a few years now.
Hope this helps

Victors_Bruvver wrote:I have today taken Martin's advice to switch electricity provider. I used the energyhelpline.com website and switched from Powergen to British Gas.
However, I am a little concerned that energyhelpline.coms confirmation email only states the following, in tiny tiny letters, regarding the £12.50 cashback mentioned the comparison tables;
"NB. Any special offers will be redeemed or paid once your switch has gone live with your new supplier"
My worry is that a few months down the line I could simply forget that the £12.50 or the free month of electricity from BG has not been credited to my account and then have to prove that they was a cashback in force when I took out the switch. Call me an old sceptic, but has anyone dealt with these companies to switch their energy provider and get a cashback payment?
After 2 months and 2 irrate e-mails I have had no response from ENERGYHELPLINE.COM.
Worried its all a big con trick. I know its only £12.50 but why the big fuss when there's no end result.
Any feedback from other swichers would be helpful.0 -
UPDATE++++++++++++++++
Just rang ENERGYHELPLINE.COM, has been explained to me that the cashback will be sent 6 weeks after your'e first direct debit is taken from your'e account.
If you havent already given them bank details, it will be in the form of a cheque.
In that case, mine should be on the way !!!

Just wanted to say thanks for promoting the time to switch. I've been pushing my parents (computer phobes) to switch suppliers for some time now. Finally convinced them to change from BG and Powergen and they should save £377 (a 35% saving)p.a. (assuming no further price increases) by going to a dual fuel contract with NPower. And by using simply switch they get the £15 rebate as well.
ThanksKeep smiling,

I'm also having problems getting my cashback from Energy Helpline. I switched at the beginning of December 2005 and, despite numerous phone calls and emails, I've had no cashback and no satisfactory explanation for the delay. It's virtually impossible to get through to their customer service department (usually just an ansaphone) and if you do, they promise to phone you back, but never do. They haven't even bothered replying to my emails. My advice would be to use one of the other cashback websites...it's just not worth it with Energy Helpline.0

Oh, and I've been paying DDs to my new supplier since 26 January 2006...0

According to my Opera browser the energyhelpline sign-up page has a very weak out-dated encryption method. See other thread.0

Mark,
Just for your info, powergen have been getting a real slating in our area, as last night on out local BBC news (Look East) lots of people have not being billed for sometimes 4 YEARS !! and then been expected to pay it when they do get a bill, sometimes amounting to thousands of pounds !!
Just so you know

Does anyone know about Equipower Equigas? There prices are great, no standing charge but I am so very wary of all these companies.0

Thanks in advance
Yeah me too, I switched gas & elec in Feb/Mar via the simplyswitch link on this site which should pay £30 cashback. Never had it. Can anyone please help?
