EmmaLou wrote:I had a go at using the comparison sites, but couldn't get my head around working out how much I currently pay. I'm not even sure what scheme I am on. I don't get paper bills so assume I am on Energy Online, although on my bills it says Standard No Standing Charge as my electricity product. I also seem to have loads of bills recently that don't make a lot of sense (well to me anyway). I gather that their electricity prices have gone up, but not sure about gas. How do I work out how much gas and electric I use per year?
Ask your present supplier they will tell you0 -
Is the special offer I have received recently from British Gas and Electricity (dual fuel) worth signing up for? They are offering to cap present prices until 2009 (with a penalty if you leave them before that).0

I've looked at switching and will save a reasonable amount moving to a new tarrif. However based on the current climate I suspect more price rises are on the way in the not to distant future. Does anyone have any advice on wether a capped tarrif is the way to go??0

If your'e planning on changing to Powergen duel fuel, Tesco is offering 2500 extra clubcard points if you change before March 31st. You need to click on to Tesco Extra & scroll down the menu on side of the page to find the offer.0

I applied to switch gas/elec to Equipower Feb 24th - got an email then that said:You should hear from our agents, Southern Electric or SWALEC, within the next 10-14 days to confirm your application.
All I have had are two glossy postcards from Equipower- Thank you for choosing etc- and today - Your application is still being processed you shouid get your welcome pack soon -
Nothing from Southern electric -
This is more than 10 -14 days - No real confirmation or date for changover so meter can be read - Not too worried - i could phone them but not impressed so far with the speed of things. Maybe they have been inundated with ex British Gas customers since the rise was announed.0 -
To update my post about being conned by a BG sales person to switch: I phoned BG to say I had decided not to switch and I also put in an official complaint about the sales person (turns out he had actually told me a load misinformation and not given me information that they are required to!).
They said that they couldn't cancel my change over because they can't access my data on their computer system. The lady in question said she has put a note on the system to tell them not to switch me if they ever manage to access my details, but she can't guarantee this and I will probably be switched.
I DON'T WANT TO SWITCH TO THEM! What can I do? I am really angry about this as I feel I am being forced into changing to them. I can see that I am going to have to make numerous calls to sort all this out (bet they won't pay me back the call charges!) :mad:0 -
I used the energy helpline cashback site to switch suppliers on Monday but no cash back was ever mentioned. I used the link here on the site. I just got an e-mail confirmingh that I had switched through them.:smileyheaMagenta0

Had this problem with BG and NPower, it DID finally get resolved. My OH saw a salesman, and she wasnt tricked into signing anything. However, to fill his quota he had gone around forging signatures. There are some desperate people out there...Get in contact with your current supplier and tell them that you dont want to switch. One phone call to BG and tell them you ARE NOT switching and your current supplier should deal with them directly. You may be bogged down with 'You owe us' bills but you will NOT have to pay them. It will take a while to resolve but it will be OK. A piece of advise I allways try to give is to find out the full name of the person you talk to. It tends to put them on the wrong foot and gives you some control of the conversation...After all they know everything about youYou can't please all of the people all of the time,so I've given up trying...I'm on a high getting my life back on track...Hope U can too;)0
