I've been trying to get to grips with this Simplicity/iphone combo both here and HUKD.
If I were to buy say a 16gb 3GS then what do I lose if I then take the Simplicity deal. . .is it just the Unlimited Wi-Fi? Are there any other pros and cons I should be aware of? I believe the Iphone's PAYG sim has an activation expiry date, do people SIM juggle or not use it?
I no longer use Quidco as I prefer TopCashBack and CBK. . .TCB have the same level of cashback as Quidco on 02, so I presume that'll work. Neither have the 4% on the Apple Store but I should be able to reclaim that with CBK's Highest Cashback Promise (quite why they don't keep up with the % I don't know).
Any other need to knows? I'm veering towards an iphone but I haven't completely ruled out a Blackberry.0 -
After 9 months.
This is new to me so please bare with me.
I bought my phone the O2 shop online (which after reading the article isnt the cheapest). I didn't read the t&c or click any specific box am I still eligible to downgrade and how with i go about to doing this? My contract started a week ago so i got a long way to go:o. Finally, is after 9 months the only window to downgrade, if so, how long before the 9 months and after 9 months date can one downgrade? (ie) how big is the window?)
Thanks in advance.0 -
I think the battery life appears to be bad but it's because when you get one you can't stop playing with it!0

I rang Vodafone to discuss leaving them, and they said that the 2yr exclusive deal that O2 have with Apple for the iPhone ends in October. At that point, the iPhone will be up for grabs and other networks may get in on the deal. The Vodafone rep said that they're hopeful of getting it, but either way, the competition should force contract prices down, and its sensible to hold fire until October to see what happens and who gets it. Which is exactly what I'm going to do0

Before I take the plunge into the world of iphone just rang churchill to check insurance prices and it will cost me £47 a year as personal possessions away from the home although i have a voluntary ecess on my home policy of £200 i can reduce that to £75 for not much more premium so i think thats the way to go rather then pay £120 a year phone insurance
any pitfalls with that ?
looks like i will go with mobile.co.uk and go for the 18month contract at £44 then downgrade to £3 after 9 months and get £ 55 quidco back but looking round shops today the guy in orange said why dont you hang on untioll 1st october as itd <rumoured > they will be getting the iphone although he thinks not 3gs which means 02 wil probably do better prices
any mileage in this rumour should i hang on another couple of weeks?0 -

The O2 iPhone contract began in June 2007, so to say that a 2 year contract is up in october is a blatant lie (I mean, how can a contract that is 30 month old be for 2 year?). The truth of the matter is, is that Vodafone and Orange have been telling customers for years that the iPhone would soon be available, without anything so much as a clue as to when the o2 exclusivity deal is actually up. The details of the o2/iPhone contract has never been made public, so for some nobody on the end of a vodafone call centre phone to claim to know more than the hundreds and thousands of Apple analysts out there is sheer rubbish.
Tbh I wouldnt hold out any hope of the o2/iPhone monopoly changing any time soon, at least not until a reasonable amount of contractual time is up (3 years sounds more believable than 2 and a half years for any exclusivity deal). That would take things up to next June for possibilities opening up.0 -
leonpopham wrote: »Ah, I think I misunderstood your point there a bit meinnit - you're saying the quidco deal means you have to have a minimum £20.
Also, having just looked at the deal on quidco, you cannot use this with the iphone.
Yes I just wanted to make sure you understood that the £100 Quidco is only paid on the 12 month £20 and £30 tariffs.
You can use the Simplicity tariffs with iPhone. It is a very cost effective way of getting an iPhone!0 -
Actually you can only downgrade with 02 after half your contract term, so with a 24 month contract that will mean you'll have to wait for 12 months, not 9.0

Sorry, should have said that that post was directed to Abz.0
