Which insurance (if any) have you taken out for your new iphone? Are you covered with home contents or have you bought the insurance plan offered to you at O2 / carphone warehouse / mobiles.co.uk?0 -

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to post but there are a million threads and havent got time to look through all of them.
I am looking to get an iphone 32gb 3gs but as we all know the O2 contract is a bit of a rip off. So i am looking into buying one from ebay "Unlocked" to any network. Is this a good idea or can it be found cheaper elswhere? The pricing seems to be around the £550-£600 mark. If i understand it correctly then i can then just put my sim card into the iphone and away we go? is this right?
Any help or direction would be greatly apprieciated.0 -

To be honest it might not be such a good idea. Ebay is a cess pit, full of scam artists and dodgy deals. You would have to be very careful to make sure it is brand new, not stolen etc. Also, all consumer goods come with a 2 year warranty by law now, but if the eBay seller dissapears you could have a hard time claiming on it.
Another issue is software updates. The updates often re-lock the phone so it has to be unlocked again. Fortunately, unlocking it is very simple, you just download the jailbreaking software and there is a tick box for unlocking as well. If you do it yourself you will be able to do it again when you want to do a software update.
Another advantage of doing it yourself is that you can easily restore it to factory settings (locked) if you ever need to make a warranty claim.0 -
Hi, I noticed a few pages back that there was mention of a code to get a free head set for the iphone when ordering from mobiles.co.uk. I can not find the code though
can anybody point me in the right direction?
