    Silk,

No, it's answering a question. As per my MSE-supplied sig, please report me to abuse@ if you feel I am touting for business.

    Regards,

Why should I report you Ben ?????
I don't think abuse covers selective answering does it ?????????

Thank you for your help I appreciate the information provided about stock levels. I've already indicated I'm keen on the cashback which I would only get from that site so I don't think the above posts are "touting" for my business it seems like a realistic answer to a question.
  • A camera on the Touch would be useful if Augmented Reality stuff starts taking off (google it - it's definitely coming along nicely), but not sure why they'd put a mic in.

You can get microphones for older iPods already, I'm not sure about the Touch. They are used for recording voice memos and the like.

It would make even more sense on an iPod Touch because it could make use of "identify-that-song" services like the ones you get on mobile phones, except doing it via the web instead of a phone call.

The iPhone 3GS 16GB is £226 more expensive than the iPod Touch 16GB, more than twice the price. If they came out with a camera toting iPod there would simply be no way to justify getting an iPhone for PAYG. £226 to avoid carrying an extra small, simple phone is a no-brainer.

  • Limited amounts of iPhone stock are due in this week but not enough to put it back In Stock on the site. If you were to order now you might get one this week but I'd not guarantee it.

Stock comes to O2, Carphone and ourselves at the same time for what it's worth.

    Regards,

    Hi Ben

I've got one on order at the moment, when do you realistically think I should be expecting to see the iphone? Seem to be hearing a lot of "it should" and "hopefully"s. Just wandered if there were any more exact details? I work for a large online retailer so I'm used to telling customers to wait but have to admit, not a big fan of being at the other end of rope :P

Because the stock we use is split across our website and Carphone's own, it's impossible to say exactly how many of our live orders will be fulfilled out of today's delivery (they've arrived); very roughly if you ordered up to about Monday of this week your order should have stock allocated, but we'll email you as soon as your order is despatched so you know to expect delivery.

Hope this helps, sorry I couldn't be more precise. Our "Check Order" function on the site will also tell you when your order moves from "processing" to "awaiting despatch".

Just a quick few questions in advance of me getting my Iphone in the future.

Do prices vary between vendors - O2/CPW/Mobiles.co.uk?

Are there any sites which offer cashback, if so what is the best deal?

Can you reduce the monthly amount part way through the contract? If so when?

I appreicate that this info may already be up here, but as with everything it can change from day to day. I will check nearer the time of me getting an iPhone but wanted to get some pointers in advance

  • My understanding from reading the last few pages and Martin's guide to the iPhone (linked in the first post of this thread) is:

    • The prices in terms of phone prices and contracts offered are all the same at the moment.
    • Mobiles.co.uk give £60 cashback through Quidco, no-one else is currently offering cashback.
    • You can reduce the contract to the next cheapest level after 9 months but no sooner (e.g. from £45 a month to £35).

Martin's guide is a useful starting point.

    Hi Jim,
Sorry my above posts was a bit tongue in cheek because I considered there to be more pressing answers that were needed on another couple of threads that were being ignored by Ben !
Instead of dealing with people that had money taken from them by mobiles.co.uk and people waiting for 2 months for replies etc he ignored them and tried to snatch a few sales on here instead.
Good luck with your purchase and sorry for the interuption ;)
